ABOUT R ISE

The Residential Interns Seeking Excellence(RISE) program is a year-long internship thatoffers recent college graduates free housing, aliving stipend, and the opportunity to gainhands-on experience in many aspects of thehuman services field.The RISE program is alaunching pad for the best and brightest menand women seeking to build careers, expandtheir horizons, and learn new skills.Benefitsof the RISE program include:

-Valuable resume-building experience in 5service areas of the human services field;

-Paid housing, free meals, and basic utilities;

-Full employee benefits, including healthinsurance, life insurance, and paid holidays;

-An hourly wage of $5.15;

-The possibility of transitioning to a full-timecareer at Eliada following RISE service;

-The opportunity to establish contacts andresidence in beautiful Asheville, NC.

SELECT ION CRITER IA

Although academic performance is valuable,selection is more contingent on interest andexperience with service learning. In that allpositions involve direct care with at-riskchildren and adolescents, applicants should beenthusiastic about working with thisdemographic. Early response increases anapplicant's chance for selection, as do positivereferences and letters of recommendation.The ideal candidate would possess thefollowing:

-Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology,SocialWork, Fine Arts, Education, CriminalJustice, or Recreation;

-Record of successful professional andvolunteer experiences;

-Course work or a Minor in a Human Servicesfield, such as Psychology or SocialWork.

Applications are accepted from recent collegegraduates in the United States and abroad.

HOUS ING

RISE housingconsists of a duplexarrangement; youwill share yourliving space withone other RISEmember. Theshared space will

include a full kitchen with 'start up' housingitems; a full-sized refrigerator, microwave andstove; a living room complete with couch andend table; and a full bath. Each RISE memberwill have their own bedroom with twin-sizedbed, closet and nightstand.

Each duplex is away from the hustle and bustleof the Eliada campus, complete with a separateentrance and picnic tables. Eliada does notpermit smoking, tobacco products, or alcoholon our campus. RISE housing does notaccommodate spouses, children, or overnightguests.
