The Rip Curl School of Surf goes to great effort to ensure that all our instructor and assistants are amongst the highest qualified in the world. We annually fly in certification instructors or send our crew abroad to complete levels in all of our different course disciplines; making sure we are teaching the latest and most efficent programs. We insist our front line crew and drivers also partake in our activities to give them an understand of our programs, so they are able to answer questions and more importantly share in your experience.

We offer free transport for guest in the coolest vans in town; totally air-conditioned, free wifi, GPS tracking, roof racked up to carry boards, kitted out with DVD players featuring the latest Rip Curl surf movies to psych you up on your way to the school. All students are equipped with a Rip Curl School of Surf rash shirts, Rip Curl board shorts, Rip Curl School of Surf legging, booties for reef surfing, wetsuits (on request), surf helmet, impact vest for kite, wake and windsurfing sessions, ensuring your comfort and safety. We are super concision about protecting our students from the sun and supply high quality sunscreen for your body, all natural zinc cream for your face before and during all sessions, insist our students replenish their fluids with drinking water at every opportunity and fresh fruits after lesson.

Our team of Photographers and Videographers will be recording all the action during your courses, they may even ask you to pose for a couple of shots with your gear and instructor. Then sent to you via DropBox or loaded on to a Rip Curl School of Surf flash drive for an additional Rp 100,000.

Rip Curl School of Surf – Sanur is located on the beach front of the Prama Sanur Beach Hotel; visitors can park with in the hotel and access the school via the lobby or a 2 minute walk past the tennis courts to find the Rip Curl School of Surf, Sanur. Rip Curl School of Surf - Legian is at the bottom of Jalan Arjuna (Double Six Rd.) then turn left, travel 200m and enter between Lanai and Blue Ocean Café.

Courses are scheduled daily at 8am, 10am, 1pm and 3pm. Different disciplines and levels may require different tides, wave size and wind conditions. Let our Reservation staff know your schedule and we will make every effort to schedule your course accordingly. Be prepared for early mornings as often this time often offers the best conditions.

We use quality equiptment for all activities and all kites, boards, and sails are selected to provide maximum safety and enjoyment to students at all levels. All students are provided with Rip Curl board shorts, rash shirt, legging, wetsuits, life jackets and Gath helmets for lessons together with drinking water, sunscreen, zinc and towels. All school activities are covered by a $1,000,000 insurance policy.

In a set of 5 x 2 hrs course periode of theory, practice, practical, our ‘Beach Surfer’ program allows a total novice to master the key surfing skills quickly and easily. Learn the essentials in simple, easy-to-follow steps and master the art of riding waves, paddling, forehand and back hand turns. Courses also include essential ocean knowledge, surfing secrets and safety. You will be surfing the beach break with ease and confidence.

Our 5 x 2 hrs course periode of theory, practice, practical, ‘Power Surfer’ program is the ultimate life changer. If your passion is to ride short boards, duck dive set waves and move to the tropics, then this program is for you. Picking up from the ‘Reef Surfer’ program you will perfect your ‘cutback’, power of your ‘bottom turn’, finishing with a ‘snap’ or a ‘floater’. The ‘Power Surfer’ program is derived from our Rip Curl Team Rider Training Manual with direct inserts given to each student, along with performance reviews and imagery coaching.

Build on the basics and master the techniques of reef wave riding. In a set of 5 x 2 hrs course periode of theory, practice, practical, Level 2 courses are designed to prepare students for more challenging waves. The “Reef Surfer’ program teaches the surfer the skills for generating board speed from the wave, transitional turns (cutbacks), paddling on behind the peak of the wave, compressions and extensions (Top & Bottom turns). Study books are utilized along with imagery coaching to ensure results.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Turn your kid into a “Little Ripper” with our specifically designed junior surfing program, we cover the skills and knowledge of our regular syllabus but teach them using specialized surfboards and methods developed especially for kids. One on one lesson per class for maximum safety and attention. Please inquire about our package rates for our 3 and 5 little ripper course programs including Certificate.

Foil surfing is a new and exciting form of surfing. The Surf Foil Intro program will take the student through all of the necessary information of the equipment, safety, getting riding on the foil board, followed by foiling behind the tow-boat in flat water to learn how to raise and lower the foil, turns and generating speed “the pump”. The Clinic is a 2 day program including wave tow-ins, paddling-in and perfecting foil wave riding techniques.

kiting equipment. IKO standard tuition is essential in this exciting

adventure sport and we supply full IKO certification on completion

of level 3.

Time to put the training to work and get wet with the kite. Taking to the water you’ll learn how to launch the kite, how to position yourself and the board, control the kite in the power zone and use the kite to propel you across the water. You’ll also be briefed on self rescue and the kite release procedures required to get you back to the beach

KITE SURFING - Level 1



Concentrate on learning all necessary Board Riding skills utilizing our wakeboard boat, Kite board, Kite -harness and Kite bar’n’line system. Learn up wind board recovery, water starts - coming up out of the water both directions using the harness, correct body positioning & edging the board for upwind riding plus turning.

The most advanced of all of the IKO programs and the final step of full IKO certification. Once you’ve mastered Levels 1 and 2, learn how to generate speed and move up and down wind. You’ll also learn how to change direction and grab some air with basic jumps and aerial manoeuvres.

If you are looking for fast track intensive learning, our instructor wil l take you through the IKO certif ication one-on-one, work on your manoeuvres, jumps, race board and wave board riding or simple famil iarizations with latest equipment .

Kite foiling will take your kiting to new levels and is ideal for light wind conditions; when everyone else is sitting on the beach, your out and flying. Learn about the foils and boards, the skills to launch from the water, riding and turns. Lesson begin behind the tow-boat and end in assisted foiling with the kite. The instructors will accompany you with a boat all the way. *Kite foil students require a minimum of level 3 kiting skills.

WAKE - KITE


Experience the thrill of one of the most exciting water sports, wakeboarding and learn everything you need to get started in one easy session. Then move up to spins, flips and aerials with one on one tuition in a private lesson or join a group of up to 3 people in our, purpose-built wake boat.

Build on the basics and learn how to perform 180s and ride the wake. As your confidence grows, discover the secrets of body and arm positioning that will set you up for perfect jumps and landings and practice with single wake jumps.

This is all about equipment knowledge, hand signals and safety on the board, boat and in the water. Learn how to make a deep-water start , ride in the boat wake and what to do when you fall. Pick up some advanced techniques with one-handed riding and surfing the wake. This course is designed for all ages and provides a good basic grounding to wake boarding.

WAKE BOARDING - Level 1



Learn how to set up for bigger take offs and landings, correct body positions and how to ride away from landings. Build on your experience and take your boarding to a new level with a range of cool flips and turns.

Our purpose-built wakeboard boat is available for private sessions for experienced wakeboarders or students wanting to practice. Our boat driver will take you to the smoothest conditions, set up the boat with the wake and right the rope length for you. All sizes of boards, ropes and handles available.

Rip Curl, the Rip Curl School of Surf and the Prama Sanur Beach Hotel are proud to announce their support and collaboration with the NGO “Ocean Gardener”, with the installation of their first Coral Gardener nursery in front of the Rip Curl School of Surf – Sanur center at the Prama Sanur Beach Hotel as the new Prama Sanur Beach Hotel and Rip Curl Planet Social, Environmental and Responsibility project for Indonesia.

Your tour will start with a short video about corals and then your guide will give you a briefing about our coral nursery, including information such as, how it was set up, what type of corals we have, how we grow them, the project goals and some important considerations regarding how to interact with the corals and other marine life at our nursery.

OCEAN GARDENER CORAL DIVER COURSE

INTRODUCTION TO CORAL DIVER

This dive experience shows you the first step towards becoming an Ocean Gardener Coral Diver. You will watch a short video introducing you to corals and looking at the different coral growth forms. After a little coursework you will go for a dive to apply the knowledge you have just learned to identify coral growth forms and hard and soft corals.

This course is set out over 3 days and breaks down coral identification into logical steps making the whole experience fun and educational without being overwhelming. On the first day you will learn about coral growth forms, this will later be broken down into the difference between small and large hard coral polyps and also soft corals.


Try your hand at Stand Up Paddle board, great for fitness, also an easy and exciting way to surf waves with no surfing experience required. After just one lesson you’ll be piloting the board along the coastline or trying your hand on rolling waves - on your own, with a friend or with one of our guides.

Move on up and find out how to ride small waves, switch feet, keep your balance as you paddle onto waves and make smooth exits. You’ll also learn how to pass over waves while controlling the board with your paddle and by moving your weight.

Learn about your equipment and the three basic. Paddling techniques you’ll master the essentials and practice paddling across flat water, making turns and learning how to stay upright. The perfect introduction to touring SUP with a few usefull tips to stop you from falling off.

STAND UP PADDLE - Level 2



Advanced skills for big wave SUP’ing. Use the power of the paddle and learn how to bottom turn of your fins, move into and float off wave sections and power over breaking waves with ease.

Recommended for surfers looking to try something new or for those wanting to learn all the skills in one go, a private lesson will take you straight into the power moves and paddling into sets, changing direction and cutting back with speed.

SUP foiling is a new and exciting form of SUP riding. The SUP Foil Intro program will take the student through all of the necessary information of the equipment, safety, getting riding on the SUP foil board, followed by foiling behind the tow-boat in flat water, learning to raise and lower the foil, turns and generating speed “the pump”. The Clinic is a 2 day program including paddling into waves and perfecting SUP foil wave riding techniques. *Minimum Level - 2 SUP skills are required .

Located at Rip Curl School of Surf in Sanur, Blue Oasis Dive is a PADI dive school with exceptionally high standards. We aim to keep groups small, with 2 divers to 1 instructor (maximum of 4 divers to 1 instructor). We guarantee top class equipment and first rate instruction with a focus on diver safety, environmental awareness and the enjoyment of all the incredible underwater beauty that Bali has to offer. We are right on the beach so you can truly feel you are in your dream tropical paradise as you prepare for your diving experience. At Blue Oasis Dive we run all levels of PADI programmes from Discover Scuba Diver up to Divemaster. We also offer the unique PADI Bali Sunfish and Marine Park Diver specialty. Sanur channel and dive sites along Sanur reef has an abundance of life and, since it is our house reef, we can easily go for 1 or 2 dives depending on how energetic you are feeling that day! You will be provided with our Balinese local boat, called jukung to the dive site.

Padang Bai has many different dive sites, beautiful hard coral formations, soft coral and sandy slopes, coral walls, mini wrecks and artificial reef structures or an amazing muck dive. It takes approximately 1 hour by car from Sanur. Continue with jukung from the harbour that you can begin to enjoy the stunning views both above and below the water.

Tulamben is home to the world famous USS Liberty wreck. Underwater now for over 50 years, its 120m long structure has been reclaimed by Mother Nature and is encrusted with beautiful corals and provides shelter for an abundance of marine life. It takes about 2-3 hours by car in beautiful rice field views along the way. Once there it is a shore entry from the volcanic pebble beach and is an excellent site for beginners and advanced divers.

The islands of Nusa Penida have some of the most stunning,healthy & exciting dive sites in Bali. It boasts an incredibly high level of marine biodiversity and a place to spot some of Bali’s charismatic marine species, including sharks, turtles, manta rays and the seasonal aggregation of the Ocean Sunfish. We recommend these trips for certified divers with a good level of experience.

A little further north from Padang Bai, Candidasa has some incredible jukung boat dives. As these dive sites are more prone to strong currents this dive area is only available to divers with the sufficient experience. These pristine reefs are full of majestic marine life and have something very special about them! It takes approximately 1.5 hour by car from Sanur.

This programme teaches the fundamentals of dive theory and a few of the most basic but important skills. After a session in the swimming pool you will have the opportunity to dive in the ocean to see the spectacular wonders of the underwater natural world with your own eyes. 1 swimming pool session and 1 open water dive with your instructor, all necessary equipment and dive insurance.

The first complete entry level certification is the PADI Open Water Diver. This will be the start of your great life-long diving adventure! This course consists of three main phases: theory (including 5 knowledge development sections, quizzes and a final exam), confined water dives (in a swimming pool) and 4 open water dives to review your skills and explore your new underwater world! The second day will be 2 dives within the marine park focusing on the diver code of conduct and the chance to witness the awe inspir-ing sunfish itself, in all its massive glory! Dedicated dive boat from Sanur to the islands, all related materials and PADI certification, 2 dives with your instructor, lunch and soft drinks, tanks, weights and dive insurance.

This specialty consists of a half day of theory looking at the different species of sunfish and more specifically at the sunfish that we find here in Bali during the infamous ‘sunfish season’. All the information in this course is based on scientific research and is part of ongoing research into the sunfish in the Bali area through the Sunfish Research project. It also gives information about our local marine park, diver codes of conduct and further insights into the links between all these topics and how it fits into the wider context of marine tourism and environmental conservation efforts
