Objective: System for Continuous Monitoring
Monitoring of the rail topography and the track‘s conditions
o Frame conditions: cost-efficient and robusto Damages: cracks, breaks, abrasionso Failures: gauge, missing screws, fixations
The system:
Multi-sensor unit for data acquisition A pre-processing with complex filtering as well as An intensive adaptive digital processing unit for big data with image
processing and sensor fusion.

The Sensor
The sensor unit containing TOF-camera (time-of-flight camera with high 3D resolution and
reduced back light sensitivity for outdoor applications) RGB-Camera with RGB-based CCD- or CMOS-Chip, IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), a low cost 3-D orientation sensor and GNSS, a low cost sensor together they result in a precision geo-
referencing modul
The equipment will be mounted at the engine of the locomotive and carried on regular operations.
Model building, data fusion and defect’s detection will be done offline.
The detected defects will be described and imported into a GIS for their further exploitation by GEOCAD
