Learners of today. Leaders of tomorrow.

Riddlesdown News of the Week

w/c 21st April 2014

Welcome Back!

It has been a busy Easter at the Collegiate. Over 200

students were abroad on school trips to Greece,

France and Spain and over 300 more were in school

attending Easter Revision Workshops. There has

been further progress on the CPA College Arts Centre

and work on the new tennis courts has also begun –

this means that the tennis courts are currently out of

use, so ball games can only be played on the field

at lunchtime.

KS3 Paris Trip Meeting

There is a meeting about the KS3 Paris Trip for

parents tonight in the Main Hall at 6pm. Please

bring student passports and EHICs as well as

photocopies of passports and emergency contact

details.

Classics Trips to Greece

Two groups of students and staff

enjoyed fantastic trips to Greece

during the Easter break. Highlights

included visiting Delphi, a famous

archaeological site, a trip to

Olympia, the site of the Olympic

Games, and a visit to Mystras a

fortified town in the Peloponnese.

Students also enjoyed a dip in the

sea, Greek dancing and a pottery

workshop.

A group of Year 8 students

visited Spain over Easter and

enjoyed a fabulous five days

of skiing with sunshine and

plenty of snow. Thank you to

all the students and the staff

for making the trip so

enjoyable.

Year 8 Ski Trip

Well done to the 300+ students,

in Years 11-13 who attended

Easter Revision Workshops

over the holidays. There are now

only 15 days before the first

pubic exam (GCSE) so it is vital

that all students use all the time

available productively.

Year 11 Gifted & Talented Breakfast Seminars

This week’s seminar is

MATHEMATICS

(Pegasus & Phoenix)

on Thursday at 8.15am in the

Conference Room

Please note, the same seminar will run for

Aquila and Orion students next Tuesday

GCSE Music Performance Exams

These take place this Tuesday,

Wednesday and Thursday. Students

should remember to bring their music

and need to arrive 15 minutes before

the time of their exam to warm up and

prepare in one of the practice rooms.

They should then wait in the foyer.

If you are in or near the Arts Centre this week, please

remember to be quiet so as not to disturb or interrupt

the recording of these exams. Good luck to all our

Year 11 musicians!
