Parent Comments from Survey 2019
1. Excellent principal, excellent counselor, teachers, and office staff
2. I think they need a tablet for school, and teach them at a young age to use technology, not for gaming, but teach about the dangers, etc. It’s a big
part of their future.
3. I would like to be more involved with my daughter in school. I wish the parents could walk their child to class and be more involved in daily activities
once in a while.
4. I think if you are going to combine schools, at least let there be half of each school, so it’s not such a dramatic experience for Richlands kid not
having many friends and getting ganged up on by the Raven children.
5. A little less homework cause when both parents work 60 hours a week, it is hard for us to help.
6. Having after school tutoring for children who need one on one help and cannot get that attention in the large classroom.
7. There are times I feel as if my child doesn’t get the same attention as other kids because of what he tells me and his father. I went to address the
situation at his school, and the principal gave me the run around, and by the time I got to talk to the teacher, we already knew. So that told me they
covered their tracks. So, treat all kids the same, as well as parents.
8. Prayer goes a long way!
9. Teachers and staff are excellent.
Richlands Elementary School Title I School Wide Plan 2019-2020
Revised October 2016 Page 10 of 31
10. Not satisfied with the Gifted Program at RES. My child’s group was being pulled to attend gifted during Math class. Neither my child, nor I wanted
him to miss core class time. So, he did not participate this year for that reason. We were not offered another time that he could be pulled to attend
gifted class.
11. Everything is OK. Thanks!
12. I think when I feel the need to stop in to watch my child in the classroom, I should be able to do so like all other parents. On a day my child was late,
one parent got to walk her child to the class, but, no, they wouldn’t let me. It’s my child!
13. Less focus on testing and more on encouraging children to enjoy learning better ways to interact and explore their world. More chances to be
creative and STOP taking away recess. More small group learning and peer helping and mentoring.
14. Communication could always be improve, but I feel for the most part, we al do the best we can.
15. Address bullying. Let the teachers teach how they want, instead of gov’t guidelines. LESS TESTS!
16. More opportunities given in advance in order to plan, sometimes.
17. Doing a good job!!
18. Talk to students about bullying and everyone is different in all shapes and sizes.
19. Opt out of accreditation type curriculum so the standards for a young mind aren’t so high.
20. I love this school just the way it is. Everyone is wonderful and very helpful!
21. Need to watch out for the bullying. Sometimes she says that she is picked on.
22. Very helpful school. Listens very well.
23. My children have informed me that they are happy with their school; therefore, I am as well.
24. Both of my children are on the honor roll, so I couldn’t be more happy with the teachers and staff at RES. I think they do a wonderful job with my
children and their education.
Richlands Elementary School Title I School Wide Plan 2019-2020
Revised October 2016 Page 11 of 31
25. RES is AWESOME!
26. My child has been having issues with a girl in class. She has not wanted to go to school for the last couple of months because she does not
understand why this girl does not like her. I wish there were solutions to problems like this.
27. When having concerns with a child, they need to talk with a parent. Also, need to follow what is discussed at PTA meetings.
28. My children are extremely happy with their school and they are adjusting to the curriculum rather quickly.
29. I feel like they need to be less concerned with having the best test scores and focus more on actually teaching. I do not like that my child gets to use
a math cheat sheet for everything they do because of that it’s making her lazy about learning it. I also think these kids need lockers. They should not
have to carry these huge books all day when they don’t need them. My 4th grader has had horrible back problems this year.

when it comes to learning how to implement it.

specialist in the building all day, every day with the resources they need to provide technical support to staff and teach technology classes to
students.

i. Look at how students are placed in DI. Seems like some students that are in DI do not need to be there while others, who need help, don’t
get it.
