    LAYOUT AND GRAPHIC DESIGN REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS

    Part of the Better Bike Share Partnership

    Overview

    This Request for Quotations seeks a graphic designer to layout youth bike education curriculum and

    create corresponding images.

    The primary goal of this project is to make youth bike education curriculum visually attractive and

    straightforward. This project will serve the larger goal of inspiring a diverse cross-section of

    Philadelphians to use Philadelphias Bike Share system, coming Spring 2015. The larger initiative is

    managed by The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and The Mayors Fund for Philadelphia, in

    collaboration with The Mayors Office of Transportation and Utilities, and Neighborhood Bike Works.

    The youth education curriculum is managed by an independent contractor, Rebecca Cweibel.

    Project Description

    This curriculum toolkit will be visually interesting and intuitive. It will be accessible to people high

    school-aged and older; it will be used by older youth and adults.

    The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, as part of the Better Bike Share Partnership with the City

    of Philadelphia, National Association of City Transportation Officials, and People for Bikes, is working to

    create a socially equitable bike share model for Philadelphia and beyond. To achieve this goal, the Better

    Bike Share Partnership is working with Neighborhood Bike Works to integrate youth bike share

    engagement into existing programs and designing additional opportunities for youth to become bike

    share ambassadors.

    Project Goals

    Engage a skilled graphic designer

    Transform existing curricular content into a visually compelling document Create images to accompany information on youth development, bicycles, bike share, and traffic

    safety, as needed.

    Project Timeline

    Application Process

    RFQ Submissions due: December 15, 2014

    Up to three finalists selected for interviews: December 19, 2014

    Finalist announced soon after interviews

    Project Implementation

    The work will occur in January and February of 2015. There is a possibility to start in late December

    2014.

    Responsibilities

    Report to Rebecca Cweibel, contracted independently with The Mayors Fund for Philadelphia to be

    managed by the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, for the duration of the project.

    Creatively lay out written curriculum and existing images

    Create additional images for mutually agreed-upon locations and purposes.

    Artist Eligibility

    This project is open to individual graphic designers, residing and eligible to work in the United States,

    specializing in working with curriculum or training materials. Applicants work samples should

    demonstrate their template- and image-creating skills. Up to three finalists will be selected for an

    interview process, and one will be awarded the project.

    The selected artist will sub-contract with Rebecca Cweibel to undertake this project, although they will

    be supervised directly and indirectly by the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphiaand The Mayors

    Fund for Philadelphia

    Proposals must be received by Rebecca Cweibel no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014.
