Completing an associate degree is a major milestone! It can get you started in

a career, or give you that sense of accomplishment that inspires you to take

the next steps towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree.

Certificates & Career Studies Certificates

An academic certificate or career studies certificate can provide specific

training in a field and lead to immediate employment. While certificates don’t

take as long to complete as an associate degree, they can serve as a stepping

stone to receiving an associate or bachelor’s degree. Certificate programs at

Reynolds typically take less than two years to complete and career studies

certificates may be completed in under a year.

Shalini Upadhyaya, science professor, is inspired by the success of her students – not only in the classroom, but in their work environment after college. Professor Upadhyaya also leads the Reynolds annual “Science Night,” which showcases the outstanding work of our science faculty.

Scott Burrell’s interaction with horticulture students revolves around practical field work in the display, vegetable, and landscape gardens at the Goochland Campus.

Meet d’Shante Smith, former Reynolds

student ambassador and future engineer. Oh, the Places You Will Go!

Reynolds is dedicated to providing social, educational, and service activities that promote student engagement, cultural awareness, and social

responsibility. In addition to free or low-cost on-campus events throughout the year, the Reynolds Office of Student Life coordinates trips

to sporting events, theaters, and four-year colleges and universities.

BE THE KIND OF LEADER YOU WOULD FOLLOW.Reynolds offers exceptional programs for students wishing to gain leadership

skills.JSRLEADmembersworkonteambuilding,businessetiquette,public

speaking, and community service. Student Ambassadors represent the

college community in a variety of ways, from offering campus tours to

speaking with state lawmakers about the value of community colleges. Student

Senate members advocate on behalf of the student body and help college

administratorsaddressquestionsorconcernsfromstudents.

Reynolds is home to two chapters of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor

society for two-year colleges. PTK encourages scholarship among two-year

college students by providing opportunities for leadership, service, and

academic excellence. Students interested in business careers may also join Phi

BetaLambda,anationallyrecognizedbusinessorganizationthatfostersthe

professional development of students.

At Reynolds, we apply the best

practices for safety and emergency

management. The Reynolds

DepartmentofPoliceisthefirst

community college police department

in Virginia to be fully accredited

through the Virginia Law Enforcement

Professional Standards Commission.

Campus tours are available October

through May from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Parham Road Campus tours are

offered the first Friday of the month.

parking in the deck, but it’s also easy

for students to bike or take the bus.

3 PARHAM ROAD CAMPUS Our most traditional college

campus offers new and renovated

facilities including a state-of-the-art

technology center and library, a café

to grab a cup of coffee or a bite, and

lots of space to study and visit with

friends. The suburban location also

provides enough open space for

outdoor athletic fields and ample

parking. Most first-year and second-

year college classes are offered

at the Parham Road Campus, as

well as plenty of degree and

transfer options.

classes from home, but want the

convenience of traditional college

of both, with more than 20 online
