When REV’IT! acquired the GORE-TEX® licenses for apparel and gloves in 2008, they knew it would result in products that could perform optimally under the most severe climate conditions. The combination of REV’IT! Engineered skin® product design and GORE-TEX® product technology has led to the ultimate solution for motorcyclists worldwide: performance clothing, gloves, and accessories that are unsurpassed in waterproofing, wind proofing, and breathability.

So why is it worth it to spend more money on a REV’IT! jacket with a GORE-TEX® label than on a REV’IT! jacket without? For many serious rider enthusiasts, it’s worth every penny.

Here’s why:ePTFE, or expanded polytetrafluorethylene, was invented by Bob Gore, a former employee of DuPont. He discovered that normal PTFE, under certain conditions, could be expanded into a new material that was resistant to extreme low and high temperatures, as well as chemically inert (or, unreactive with any other material). He also learned that its microporous structure was hydrophobic, biocompatible, and completely resistant to wear and tear. So GORE-TEX® was born.

One of the first products developed was the ‘first generation’ GORE-TEX® membrane, which is nowadays used as a WINDSTOPPER®. That was further developed into the GORE-TEX® we know it today: a bi-component membrane of ePTFE with a protective layer, resistant to oils and greases.

The GORE-TEX® membrane has more than 1,4 billion microscopic pores per square centimeter. These pores are 20.000 times smaller than a drop of water, but 700 times bigger than a water vapor molecule. In plain English: water can get out of the garment, in the form of vapor escaping from the pores, but it can’t get in. Even under extreme pressure, water cannot get inside – making the GORE-TEX® membrane not only water-resistant, but also durably waterproof. According to industry norms, a fabric may be labeled waterproof when it can resist the pressure in a water column of 1300mm. Yet, the pressure on a fabric when sitting or kneeling is already significantly higher. All GORE-TEX® membranes developed for motorcycling resist pressure of 42.000 mm.

Extreme lab testing

Apparel with GORE-TEX® technology must also perform under other parameters of real-life riding, with the ability to offer durable waterproofness, windproofness, and high breathability.

For that reason, GORE-TEX® submits all its fabrics to a series of severe test programs. These tests are done in laboratories that mimic the extreme conditions that the fabric could encounter, in any riding circumstances, for the ultimate protection and comfort.

All REV’IT! models that carry the GORE-TEX® label have been submitted to, and passed, these severe lab tests. In addition, long before the products are available at your local dealer, all REV’IT! styles are tested to the limit for user friendliness and wearer comfort, in long term praxis tests.

One of the lab tests is the so-called ‘leakage after wet flex and abrasion test.’ In this test, fabrics are being flexed and rubbed continuously during twenty-four-hour cycles. After each cycle, waterproofing levels are measured, to determine how much they have degraded. This test reveals how long a fabric can remain waterproof, under such extreme conditions for such an extended period of time. GORE-TEX® laminates beat the fabric field by far: they remain waterproof even after 500 hours of this test.

Another important test is the ‘Leakage after cold flex test.’ This is often a problem of coated fabrics, because coatings can tear at low temperatures, after becoming brittle and inflexible due to cold. GORE-TEX® laminates, on the other hand, are still waterproof after literally thousands of flexes under extremely cold conditions.

During the so-called ‘MVTR-test,’ or the Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate test, testers in the GORE-TEX® laboratory measure how much water vapor (measured in grams) can be transmitted through a square meter of fabric within 24 hours (gr/m2/24hrs). GORE-TEX® laminates can transport up to 15.000 gr/m2/24 hrs, meaning that they are extremely breathable and offer a rider a dry, comfortable riding experience.

The ‘Ret-test,’ or the Resistance to evaporative heat transfer test, indicates the resistance for a water vapor molecule to pass through a fabric. The lower the resistance (Ret-value), the higher

the breathability, as the wearer’s perspiration vapor can pass easily through the fabric. Fabrics that are qualified as highly breathable have Ret-values between 0 and 60. Depending on the carrier fabric and construction, GORE-TEX® laminates can have values below 50.

Finally, the ‘Spray test’ measures the water repellence of an outer shell fabric, once it has been coated in a particular substance designed for this function. A spray value of 100% means that all the water will roll off during rain. All GORE-TEX® fabrics come standard equipped with a high-quality water repellency spray, which prevents the outer shell from soaking, and keeps the wearer dry, no matter the conditions.

Breathability

Depending on the weather conditions and number of layers worn, the human body can produce up to a liter or more of moisture per hour. Because the pores in the GORE-TEX® membrane are 700 times bigger than a water vapor molecule, however, sweat can easily escape as water vapor. The GORE-TEX® membrane is able to quickly transport body moisture to the outside of the garment, preventing unwanted moisture from causing hypothermia when it’s cold or overheating when it’s hot.

The GORE-TEX® membrane is 100% windproof. This is an important factor, because, to maintain a comfortable temperature, the thin layer of warm air on the skin surface must not be affected. The membrane keeps the wind out and the body warm, preventing hypothermia. REV’IT! is known around the world for high-quality apparel with superior design. REVzine sat down with Guido Kreijkamp, the company’s manager of product development and production, to talk about how REV’IT! accomplishes this.

REVZINE > First, can you tell us little about how REV’IT! approaches product development?

Guido Kreijkamp: Well, every product REV’IT! sells must meet our high standards of quality, safety, and efficacy. As a supplier of motorcycle apparel, we truly feel that we have the moral duty to contribute to the safety of our customers, who come to us for protection. Our customers entrust us with their safety, and we take this partnership extremely seriously.

REVZINE > So, in order to live up to this trust, you focus on safety in your products.

GK: Yes, but for a product to be worthy of wearing the REV’IT! name, we demand much more than just safety. Good motorcycle apparel must also be very versatile. Our outer layers offer full weather protection during cold or rainy conditions, as well as

ventilation during periods of warmth, while pre-shaping to the rider’s position for excellent comfort. And, of course, REV’IT! apparel provides superior protection.

REVZINE > With all of those aspects to balance, how do you ensure the quality of your products?

GK: At REV’IT! we actually build quality control systems into our design process. These are in effect even before the first product sketches are made. This way, we can guarantee that multi-functionality comes together with reliable quality.

REVZINE > How do you balance the practical concerns of quality control with the imagination required to keep your products constantly evolving? That seems to be one of the things your customers like best: your creative product solutions.

GK: This is certainly a tension in our design process: sticking to our time-tested quality standards, while making exciting new products that meet our customers’ desire for innovation. That’s why we recently developed a prototype and product development test team for REV’IT!, composed exclusively of motorcycle enthusiasts. Riders are very vocal about their desires,

likes, and dislikes – and for the first time ever, REV’IT! is allowing them to become part of our development process.

REVZINE > How will this benefit REV’IT! and the riders it serves?

GK: The concept of the test team really takes our quality-control process to the next level, by getting real-world feedback on new gear at the most beneficial time – before it goes into production. This is when our customers and riders can make a difference in the design, by logging data about the products they are testing, which we can then use to make modifications.

REVZINE > When will you know the products have been thoroughly tested?

Our goal is to have them tested over 15.000KM, which is the typical distance that a REV’IT! product is ‘on the road’ during its lifetime. The tests will be over a geographically diverse area, to guarantee performance under various weather conditions.

REVZINE > This in-the-field testing sounds similar to your working relationship with your sponsored racers.

GK: Yes. It definitely has its roots there. Our sponsored racers at the highest level of motorcycle competition wear REV’IT!, and give us suggestions for improving on both performance and safety. They test our production suits, as well as our tailor-made high-performance gear that incorporates the latest technologies.

REVZINE > What other quality tests do your products undergo?

GK: Since 2009 we have had our own fully equipped test laboratory, to ensure that we can test materials for our high product specifications all year round. Before a material is approved to be used for a new collection, it has to undergo a wide range of tests: abrasion and cut resistance, tear and pull strength, and colour fastness, among others.

REVZINE > And which qualities are you looking for from a material?

GK: The right balance between safety, comfort, and durability. During production we monitor the quality of our materials and components by routinely testing them. If we do not have the capability to conduct a certain test in our own lab, we outsource the testing to independent, certified laboratories, to ensure that every material is up to standards.

REVZINE > How do you choose the manufacturers to take these quality materials and turn them into quality products?

GK: We work with a limited range of suppliers who share our values and understand our expectations: people of talent who put care and respect into their craft. We make it our business to know our suppliers well, visiting their offices and factories whenever possible. Long relationships between REV’IT! and our manufacturers have produced a seamless continuum of product development, quality control, and production.

REVZINE > When manufacturing is complete, how can you be sure that the assembled garments live up to REV’IT!’s standards?

GK: The first shipments of a new product are scrutinized by our Quality Assurance staff, to ensure that they meet specifications. Repeat orders are controlled by notified inspection companies, who are the eyes and ears of REV’IT!, year-round. These quality control systems aim to ensure that our products meet all regulatory requirements and satisfy our customers.

REVZINE > Final question. What are you excited about for the 2010 collection, from a product development standpoint?

GK: Our first GORE-TEX® collection, definitely. Getting the license was a major step for us, as they have defined market standards for the past 30 years. Having the chance to add this to our garments is so exciting. With the insulating and waterproofing properties of GORE-TEX®, plus the comfort and durability of REV’IT! Engineered skin®, I believe the 2010 collection will set a new standard in functional motorcycle apparel – and customer satisfaction.

These are the words of Ziggy Marley, eldest son of reggae superstar Bob Marley and heir to one of the most legendary families in music, on the historic motorcycle trip he took to Africa with his brothers, Rohan and Robbie, during World Cup 2010: the first-ever World Cup to be held in Africa.

Camping under the stars and staying with local families kept the team close to Africa’s people, land, and wildlife, and their REV’IT! Defender GTX jackets and trousers kept the Marley brothers well equipped for all the twists and turns of their trip. Capturing all of the action was award-winning producer/director David Alexanian and his production crew from Elixir Films, for a series called Marley Africa Road Trip. Alexanian is known for filming Ewan McGregor’s unforgettable motorcycle trips across the world, in the series Long Way Round and Long Way Down, and he has created a wonderful record of the Marleys’ trip and its meaning to them, in part through personal interviews and tour diaries. 30 years after Bob Marley made his landmark visit to Zimbabwe, in honor of its independence, his sons chose to commemorate it with their own trip to the continent. Bob Marley was a champion of African unity and freedom, and a lifelong football fan, so this World Cup motorcycle adventure seemed the perfect way to Ziggy, Rohan, and Ronnie to celebrate their father’s life – while strengthening their own connection with Africa.

Marley brothers Ziggy Marley is the heir to his father’s music empire, and keeps his message alive through his own Grammy-award-winning music. Prior to the road trip he released a new song, “Africa Land,” to commemorate the first-ever World Cup in Africa and to celebrate Africa’s place in the world spotlight. Rohan Marley is an entrepreneur and philanthropist whose company, Marley Coffee, offers gourmet coffee to gourmet food distributors around the world, while preserving his family’s Ital heritage as farmers. Robbie Marley is a motorcycle stunt rider who has been in several major films, and owns a retail shop in Miami, Florida. Ziggy and Rohan marvel at Robbie’s riding skills: “He’s a

ninja,” they say.

Music as the common thread Bob Marley’s music is synonymous throughout the world with love, peace, unity, and human harmony. His legacy lives on through the music of Ziggy. As he and his brothers made their

journey through South Africa – which wove through Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontain, Durban, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Rustenburg, Pretoria, and Johannesburg – they jammed with diverse groups of the people they met along the way, from urban gangsta rappers to African jazz enthusiasts in the cities to the Zulus and Bushmen who play sacred music in the rural areas.The Marleys rode from coast to coast, from mountain highlands to the Savannah, from remote bush tribes to thriving urban communities, all the while building momentum for a culminating concert by Ziggy. This was especially meaningful as Bob Marley had dreamed of performing in a united South Africa, free of apartheid. Though he died in 1981 without seeing

an end to apartheid or realizing his vision, Ziggy carried his father’s flag and performed on July 4th in South Africa for the free people of Soweto – and kept his father’s message alive.

“We feel a camaraderie with South Africa, and the struggle here – specifically Soweto – as a place that represented the struggle against apartheid,” says Ziggy.

“We thought it would be good to bring

reggae music, our father’s music and his message, here for the people of South Africa.

World Cup FootballThe Marleys’ passion for music combined with the tremendous excitement in the air for the World Cup.Ziggy especially was keen to be in Africa during the World Cup, because of its enormous significance for the African continent, and because of his father’s close connection to the sport and his desire for African unity. “Football is a sport that truly brings out the spirit of unity,” he says before leaving for Africa. “And the World Cup happening in South Africa this

year is a chance for the world to finally see Africa in a positive light. I am hoping this World Cup will bring together the many countries within Africa together, to root for Africa as a whole.”

Stories From the RoadTaking in the continent on Ducati Multistrada 1200s was an eye-opening way for the brothers to see South Africa. It is Robbie Marley who is the real star on the bike, with his work as a stunt rider on several major motion pictures, but both Ziggy and Rohan discovered the joys of the open road on their trip. Arriving in South Africa, the brothers found themselves warmly welcomed and their journey was a positive, eye-opening experience. All three commented on the country’s beauty, modernity, and friendliness.

Curious giraffeThe team’s desire to ride off-road was matched by the challenging terrain in the KwaZulu-Natal region. The roads really put all three brothers’ riding skills to the test, but the spectacular scenery and amazing wildlife made the trip well worth the challenges. One day while riding on the dirt track, the Marleys encountered a giraffe. The giraffe was extremely curious about the colorful suits and bikes, and ventured much closer to

the brothers than anyone expected.

When Robbie stepped off his bike to take a closer look, the giraffe walked to his motorcycle – and actually put one of its front hoofs on a rear peg, as if it wanted to have a go at biking! “I don’t think that’s a memory any of us will ever forget,” says Robbie.

Bitterly cold nightsOne thing the team was not quite expecting was the cold weather: Africa is thought of as being a very hot continent, but in Johannesburg it was winter when the brothers were making their trip. The team had had a vision of sleeping under the stars when they camped out on their way to Rorke’s Drift. Once the campfire went out, however, the night was so bitterly cold that the Marleys ended up sleeping in their REV’IT! suits, huddled in their sleeping bags, to keep the chill out. The Defender GTX jackets and trousers lived up to their name, keeping hypothermia away and helping the Marleys ride out early the next morning.

Heavy trafficThe freeways into Johannesburg provided another memorable experience, as the team rode into the city for a World Cup game. Thousands of fans raced past the brothers in cars and trucks, all vying for position and rushing to get to the game in time for kick-off. South Africa is a country of extremes, and this ride in heavy traffic could not have been more different than the quiet campouts under the stars in the African savannah.

When they walked into the stadium, the air electric with the crowd’s excitement and energy, Ziggy came full circle from his early memories of accompanying his father to Zimbabwe 30 years before – when one of the first things they did upon arriving was go to see a football match. To get truly in touch with a land and its people, a motorcycle is the only way to go, and for Ziggy, the trip was a life-changing event.

Base Layer A good base layer keeps skin dry, preserving its natural breathability and capacity to regulate body temperature. Most base layers are made of synthetic fibers, such as polypropylene, which quickly wick moisture away from the skin. The Regulator and all REVIT! base layers keep the skin dry and comfortable, preventing overheating in summer and hypothermia in winter.

Mid Layer This layer is made of fleece, a synthetic fiber that maintains its insulating ability even when wet, and dries very quickly. The mid layer transports moisture toward the outer membrane.

Outer shellThe outer shell can make or break your comfort. This durable outer layer, in the form of a jacket, pair of trousers, or gloves, is worn directly over the base layer, or over both base and insulating mid layer, depending on the climate conditions. In the winter, the outer layer must be both watertight and windtight, to prevent hypothermia. But in summer it must be highly

Is there a more recognizable team-brand in the GP paddock than the baby blue GSV-R squad? The answer, of course, is no. There is only one RIZLA Suzuki MotoGP team. Suzuki has a long history in the world of motorsport. Since 1960, Suzuki has sponsored racers in motorcycle Grand Prix, and has won seven World Championship manufacturer titles and six individual titles. Champions like Barry Sheene, Kevin Schwantz, and Kenny Roberts, Jr. are just a few of the famous names on Suzuki’s victory list.The current line-up runs the gamut of experience, from GP elder statesman Loris Capirossi to MotoGP rookie and REV’IT! rider Álvaro Bautista. Álvaro is a 250cc graduate, and 2010 is his first year in the Kings class.

RIZLA Suzuki MotoGP: analysis, testing, innovation, progress.The last race of 2010 will take place in November, in Valencia. But there’s no rest for Suzuki before the 2011 season. Before the official test in Qatar, Suzuki has to analyze all the 2010 races, to determine what needs to be changed and what can stay the same, and to weigh the advantages and disadvantages – all in a relatively short time.

A few questions to Álvaro Bautista

REVZINE > What would you like to accomplish before the end of this season? And what will you do when it’s over? Álvaro Bautista: So far the season has been very hard for us. Especially because I had a motocross training accident before the race in Le Mans, and broke my shoulder. For each race I wish to be at 100 % in terms of physical shape, and of course give it my all, to finish in the top 8. After the final race in Valencia, we will start testing. We will begin with testing the new bike.

REVZINE > What happens in the winter? Álvaro Bautista: Normally, we plan to test the new bike two or three times. After that I go on holiday and lie on the beach, but just for a couple of days. I have to keep focused on training, because during the season it is much more difficult to make a good training plan and stick to it. We haven’t got much time to do this and well… time is everything.

REVZINE > How do you prepare for next season? Álvaro Bautista: I have a personal trainer. With him, I make a training schedule. We spend a lot of time in the gym, go cycling and running a lot, and I also ride on my motocross and supermotard bike. I also enjoy skiing in the mountains, but this is more for fun than for training.

REV’IT! sat down with sponsored rider Simone Corsi to ask him about his first year in Moto2. The 2010 season was the first year that Moto2 World Championship was included in the time schedule of MotoGP, as a replacement for the 250cc category. Powered by a one-make, 600cc, 4-stroke engine, producing around 140hp, the Moto2 class will continue the 250cc series’ pursuit of developmental excellence, with the running of a prototype chassis-free from limitation. Clearly, a lot of things changed with the addition of this new class.

01 What were your expectations of Moto2 at the beginning of this year?I thought it was a good thing to have a new category, Moto2, because it was a brand new challenge for any rider. Besides, I guessed it would guarantee a closer competition, since the engine has the same structure for everyone.

02 So far, so good. We have seen you on the podium this year. Has Moto2 lived up to your expectations so far?Well, after a short testing period, facing a new style of riding (on a new moto, no less!), I didn’t expect to get such a good result immediately! But I knew I had a great team so… this gave me a great energy then, and it still does now. The point is that working with professionals helps me to feel self-assured. That kind of confidence is fundamental to get to the top levels of competition.

03 New championship, new bike, new team. How is that for you? What is the team atmosphere like? I know… everything was new for me

this year. Moto, team, championship! I had no fear of it, honestly. As I

said, working with my team really boosted my self-confidence. I believe in my means and, mostly, in my technicians. I really feel at home when I spend time with my team. This is especially important because

I’m away from home so much, traveling and racing. With my team around me, I

feel positive, and that helps me to feel self-assured when I race.

04 Moto2 is proving to be an exciting category for the audience to watch. Do you feel as if it’s unpredictable, as a racer? It seems that you often face problems during qualification, but when it comes to the race, you often finish in the top 5. Qualification is the difficult question this year. Moto2 is a “crowded” category:

sometimes the gap between the lap times of first place and 20th is just 1 second – so it’s hard work. Fortunately my team has always been the best. My bike is really well done, and it lets me take advantage of good timing.

05 Could you give us an impression of how it feels when you’re on that podium?It’s an amazing emotion! It pays you back for every sacrifice you made to get there.

06 Do you have any rituals before the race starts?I have no strange rituals. The only thing I always do is getting on the bike with my right leg.

07 You look fit. What is your training schedule like? Does it change throughout the year?I do my workout every day at the gym and then running outdoors… healthy food… that’s all!This year I bought a go kart. I drive it fast and do some races with friends, too. Amazing. Somehow I guess it’s a good training for riding too, as it makes my arms stronger.During winter I do some motocross. It’s useful training for riding my bike. But I

have to be careful not to have some accident in the off-season, because motorcycle racing is the most important.

08 You want to win. That’s obvious. But sometimes it isn’t possible, as you’re still learning and trying to get the most out of the bike. Is there

anything that you would change in Moto2 (rules, bikes, etc)? Everyone wants to win, but only one will do it. All that’s left to do is ride, and that’s why we are all working so hard. I wouldn’t change anything. This championship is well ruled and balanced.

09 Which moment in your career do you cherish?The moment I cherish… when I won four races in 2008 and finished second in the world championship ranking.

10 This is your second year with REV’IT! What keeps Simone Corsi using REV’IT! gear? And what are your goals for your future in racing?I’m really satisfied with REV’IT! products. This is a good and serious company, and wearing their gear makes me feel safe during races. For this year my goal is to be competitive in this category… this year and the next! My dream for the future is MotoGP, for sure.

This new category is really challenging. Of course, 125 was also. But I think this bike “fits” my body better. That’s why I always have a good feeling riding it.

Laminated reflection

Reflection panels ensure excellent visibility

at all angles, allowing the wearer to be

seen from all directions. To offer a more

sophisticated look, the reflection panels are

welded to the fabric. This welding process

also eliminates stitching seams, making the

garments safer.

VCS | zippers on fore-arms

Our VCS zippers are located in strategic

positions, providing excellent air flow to cool

the body. At the fore-arms, two-way zippers

offer dual functionality: the lower slider pulls

up, so you can easily put your glove under

The waterproof and windproof membrane of the Tribeca GTX jacket floats freely between a comfortable, functional, and fashionable outer shell and a moisture-managing inner lining, in an optimal construction for the urban rider. The jacket has a wide fitting shape, which enables the rider to wear it comfortably over a business suit and arrive at the office no worse for the wear. The GORE-TEX® membrane contains over

9 billion microscopic pores per square

inch. These pores are 20,000 times smaller

than a water droplet, but 700 times larger

than a water vapor molecule. This makes

the GORE-TEX® membrane completely

waterproof from the outside, while allowing

perspiration to escape from the inside. An

oleophobic, or oil-hating, substance is

integrated into the membrane, preventing the

penetration of such compounds as body oils

and insect repellent, which could otherwise

affect the membrane.

Thermolite® Plus

Thermolite® Plus is manufactured from

polyester that is 80% recycled material. It is

a high-quality, medium-loft, thermal lining

fabric. This exclusive mix of fibres traps

the air and retains body heat, keeping the

The most underestimated form of protection while riding is the passive protection you get from comfort inside your gear.

When you’re uncomfortable on your bike, you lose focus, making accidents more likely to happen. So if you want your technical outer shell to perform to its potential, all layers must contribute for the optimal protection: from your skin up.

REV’IT! mid layers are worn directly over a base layer and are constructed in various ways, according to the primary functionality you wish to achieve: wind blocking, insulation, or a combination of the both. When insulation is the primary and only desired function for a mid layer, it is often made of fleece, a synthetic material that maintains its capacity to insulate even when wet, and which dries very quickly to prevent heat loss through soaking. When keeping cold air out is the primary functionality, REV’IT! most often applies only WINDSTOPPER® Softshell material, which is so comfortable, it could even be worn on bare skin. Every mid layer also transports moisture further from the skin, toward the outermost garment. Most mid layers combine great insulation properties with REV’IT! When you’re pushing your limits at the race track, you need a leather suit with protection you can rely on. The REV’IT! TT one-piece is based on the fully customized suit that Honda LCR MotoGP rider Randy de Puniet wore during the 2008 season. This is the first REV’IT! suit that featured the newly developed elbow sliders, in addition to the 3D honeycomb shoulder parts. The Apollo project

After setting the standard in terms of comfort and fit with the GT leather jacket and trousers, it wasn’t easy to come up with something new for the sport and tour sportive rider. We needed something totally different in design, yet ageless in its appearance. It took us two seasons to perfect a new signature design that we could use for both a leather and textile jacket, as well as a new model of leather trousers. What we came up with is the APOLLO leather jacket, and it’s a serious attention-getter. A short, sporty jacket, the APOLLO is made of extremely fine leather, with precision laser-perforation for ventilation and a unique look. Its large stretch panels offer a great fit, and it is fully equipped with CE-approved armour. The APOLLO keeps you safe, while changing conceptions about what kind of style is possible on a tour sportive bike. The matching APOLLO trousers not only look great with the APOLLO jacket, but also in combination with the TT leather jacket and the textile APOLLO jacket.

The best of both worlds

Most summer riders prefer leathers to textiles – not only because leather is stronger than textile and thus safer, but also because of its comfortable feeling on the skin. The downside is that leather doesn’t ventilate well unless it’s fully perforated. Extensive perforation isn’t safe, however, because it compromises the protective properties of the leather (unless, of course, you use the laser-perforation technique – see VICTORY suit). So we’ve come up with a solution for spring, summer and fall: the PHOENIX jacket. Designed as a summer sports leather jacket, it offers a sportive fitting shape, along with 3D-Prolife CE armor. The jacket is equipped with a removable 3-layer membrane that offers 100% water and wind protection. Both the front and back panels are constructed of the strongest mesh material available on the market, so when the liner is removed, you’re left with a fully ventilated outer shell. The best trousers to match the PHOENIX jacket are the GEAR trousers (featuring the same design concept – see page 62), or the non-vented AURORA trousers.

Most waterproof textile jackets and trousers are developed for the touring rider. This means that they often have a more relaxed fitting shape, suited for an upright sitting position. Not the RAPTOR. The RAPTOR textile jacket and trousers are designed for the sport and tour sport rider who prefers the weather protection features of textile over the comfort and safety of leathers. This uncompromising, top-level design and pre-shaped sportive fit are especially great for commuting on a sportive bike at relatively high speed, when a snug fit is vital for keeping the suit waterproof – plus, the jacket and trousers can be easily zipped together, with the 360 degree round zipper. Improved details take old favorites to a new level of design and functionality The SAND jacket and trousers, improve upon old adventure favorites, the OFF TRACK jacket and DAKAR trousers. The big differences are found in the multitude of small details that take the products to the next level. A new fore-arm zipper construction allows you to easily wear gloves underneath the cuff, while functioning as an arm vent as well. We’ve added a short connection zipper attached to the inside of the 3L removable membrane in order to secure the position of the membrane at the waist, plus water-barrier fabric panels that prevent water from soaking up the lower leg of the SAND trousers or into the jacket – plus many more features. Our mission for the SIROCCO jacket was to create an all-season, fully ventilated,

A new palm slider made of a durable

at the palm side of the glove. The palm

slider makes sure that the glove slides

in case the palm of the hand comes in

contact with the asphalt and it prevents

Climate control for the body

The Mid Layer helps the body regulate its temperatures, by trapping body heat between the skin and the mid layer. This acts as a climate control – cooling the body when it is too hot and insulating when it is too cold. Mid layer products comprise three separate layers: an insulating fleece lining, a windproof and breathable membrane, and a comfortable outer shell. Each riding situation demands a different kind of support and protection for the feet’s muscles and tendons. So REV’IT! has developed a range of innovative socks for specific uses: racing, endurance, summer touring or winter commuting. Each type of sock contains different materials to improve function. Comfort is always a priority, so all of our socks feature fabrics that quickly wick moisture away from the skin, as well as ventilation channels to whisk warm air from underneath the foot to the instep—keeping feet cool, dry, and comfortable. We reinforce the highly stressed toe and heel areas, to reduce wear and tear. That way, you keep your focus where it belongs: on your performance.

REV’IT! RACING socks are specially developed for riders in extreme sports

conditions, guaranteeing the best possible comfort and protection for the feet’s

muscles and tendons. The complex padding system protects exactly those areas

where impact and rubbing are likely to occur, and effectively reduces the chance of

skin abrasions and pressure sores. The elasticized materials support the feet and

reduce muscle fatigue when riding the track.

Channel® of the REV’IT! SUMMER TOURING socks is climate control for your

feet, actively and continuously regulating excess heat and moisture. This provides

effective protection against moisture and temperature extremes, for both hot and

cold environments.

The fabrics used in our socks quickly wick moisture away from the skin, while

ventilation channels keep the feet cool, dry, and comfortable. To our WINTER

TOURING socks we add pure Marino wool for extra insulation, to keep your feet warm,

even on the longest winter touring ride. The anatomically shaped foot-bed supports

and cushions your feet, providing support where they need it the most.
