FEATURES Uses ordinary USB drive as the medium for transfer design. Same size and interface as floppy drive unit, easy to install. Connects through floppy drive interface, no need to modify

system settings. 1.44Mb/720 Kb built-in flash memory used for conversion of

file system between USB stick drive and format of floppy disk. All files in root directory and 99 folders can be searched.

Drive Retrofit Installation Guide

1. Shut down the HAAS machine. Ensure power is off at the main breaker.

2. Remove all screws on back of the control panel. Then open the back of control panel to access the floppy drive.

3. Remove two screws on floppy drive mount.

4. Remove ribbon cable and power connector from the floppy drive.

5. Remove the floppy drive from the machine.

6. Check the ribbon cable of your machine. In some special cases, Pin #3 on certain HAAS machines will need to be cut from the HAAS floppy to USB retrofit unit to allow for proper connection. The diagrams below will show you which specific pin needs to be removed.

7. Remove floppy drive from mounting brackets by removing the two screws on each mount.

8. Attach floppy to USB conversion unit to mounting brackets using included screws.

9. Install floppy to USB conversion unit in existing space, using the new mounting screws provided in this kit.

10.Connect ribbon cable and power connector to floppy to USB conversion unit.

NOTE: The Ribbon cable has a "tooth" that shows the proper insertion orientation.

11. Floppy to USB conversion unit is now installed. Insert provided USB drive and refer to operating instructions.

Floppy to USB Hardware Interface

1.

Insert included USB drive into unit. If using a new USB drive, it must be formatted with USB-floppy-format-tool prior to use. See Section III for information regarding USB formatting.

2. The LED will display "00". Use the increment buttons to select the desired floppy disk partition (00-99).

Note: Each Partition = (1) 1.44 MB Floppy Disk3. The Read/Write process for the device will be the same.

CAUTION: Wait until the LED on the Floppy to USB Conversion unit is OFF before removing or data will be lost!

Section IIISoftware Installation and Usage

Installation of Software1. Connect a USB drive to the computer.2. In the Start Menu, select My Computer.

3. Find the USB drive and double click to open.

4. A new window will appear. Double-Click on the Floppy Emulator installation file.

5. In the new dialogue box Setup - Floppy Emulator, select Next to install the Floppy Emulator software on this computer.

6. Select a location to install Floppy Emulator or keep default location. Select Next.

7. Verify installation settings and select Install.

8. Select Finish to exit setup. The software is installed and now ready to use.

Formatting the USB Drive1. Click on the Windows Start button and then right click

USB_Floppy_ManagerII_v1.40i and run as administrator. If this option does not appear, click on Properties, and then go to the Manage tab and select Run this program as an administrator.

2. Open the USB_Floppy_ManagerII_v1.40i Software. Select USB Flash Drive at the top left corner of the window and the click Format.

3. In the new dialogue box, select floppy format 1.44M. Set the number of floppy disks to create equal to 100. Make sure Quick Format is not marked. Select Begin to Format.

4. A window warning you that the format process will erase all data from the drive. ignore this and select Ok.

5. The USB will be formatted. Do not remove until the format process is complete.

6. Click OK when the formatting is complete. The 100 floppy disk block will seen as below. The USB has been formatted.

2. Go to Options and select Set

3. Select the destination where the floppy disk folders are to be created. For simplicity, we will choose Desktop. A new folder will be created at the chosen destination. Ensure 3 fields are marked and select Ok.

5. A new folder with corresponding block name will open up. Files already on the floppy disk will be shown in the folder. Copy and paste the files to the desired floppy disk.

Note: floppy disk 000 can be accessed from any computer without the software

6. Go back to USB to Floppy Manager window and select on Download Floppy Disk Block from the toolbar. The files will then be saved to the selected floppy disk. Notice the percentage change in the used space.

7. To delete a file from the floppy disk block, double-click on the block to access that floppy disk file contents. Delete any files and then go back to USB to Floppy Manager window and select Download Floppy Disk Block from the toolbar.

8. To edit multiple floppy Disks at the same time use the Bulk menu, Hold Ctrl while clicking to select multiple floppy disks. To select all press Ctrl + A.

9. Once multiple floppy disks are selected, click Bulk and then select Bulk Open"

10. Once files are copied to appropriate folders, select Bulk Save.
