• Introduction: The story of the Clay Marble, by Minfong Ho, takes place in Cambodia during the late 1970's.

• A communist group called the Khmer Rouge took control of the country and treated the people with great brutality.

• People were forced to leave the cities and work as farmers in the fields. They had very little to eat and many were killed for stealing food or trying to escape.

• Then soldiers from neighbouring Vietnam invaded Cambodia to fight against the Khmer Rouge.

– About 70% of the courses in all 5 polytechnics offer FP

– Require a pass in all modules in the first year before admission to the poly courses

• ELMAB3 (English, Math, Best 3 Subjects) raw aggregate score of 11 points or better (excluding CCA bonus points) at the GCE ‘N’-Level examination and the student must also obtained the following:

– EL ≤ 3 and MA ≤ 3, for Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, Engineering, Information & Digital Technologies, Business & Management, Built Environment, Media & Design and Maritime Studies

– EL ≤ 2 and MA ≤ 3, for Business & Management, Media & Design, Humanities and Health Sciences



• Direct-Entry-Scheme-to-Polytechnic (DES-to-Poly) Programme

– assured of either a first- or second-year place in a related Polytechnic Diploma course, provided they achieve the qualifying ITE Grade Point Average (GPA) in their Higher Nitec programme

– top 10th-percentile to 30th percentile of the Sec 4N(A) cohort, i.e. the 20% after the top 10% qualifying to apply for the Polytechnic FP.



• Direct-Entry-Scheme-to-Polytechnic (DES-to-Poly) Programme

– Starting from the Sec 4N(A) cohort taking the 2012 GCE ‘N’-Level examinations, students who obtained an ELMAB3 (English, Math, Best 3 Subjects) raw aggregate score of 19 points or better (excluding CCA bonus points) at the GCE ‘N’-Level examination will be eligible to apply to the DES-to-Poly Programme, provided that the student also obtained the following:

– EL ≤ 4 and MA ≤ 4, to be eligible to apply to Applied Sciences, Engineering and Info-Communications Technology Higher Nitec DES programmes.

– EL ≤ 3 and MA ≤ 4, to be eligible to apply to Business & Services Higher Nitec DES programmes.
