FROM MY HOUSE
TO YOURS
Dear Parishioners,
Any reading of salvation history will remind us
that God is faithful. He is true to his promises, steady
in his allegiance, merciful, compassionate and loving.
Even when countless generations ignored his prophets
and turned away from his commandments, God re-
mained faithful to his covenants. He loves us so much
that he sent his only Son to die for our sins.
That level of faithfulness inspires faith. Faith,
in itself a gift from God, does not require repeated
proofs. We are convinced of God’s fidelity to his
promises as made through Jesus Christ, manifested in
Christ’s death and resurrection. Faith grows when one
has unwavering trust in another person. Our faith in
God requires humility and gratitude. When our faith is
strong, it is easily expressed and readily shared.
Bartimaeus, the blind beggar, appears to have
had such faith. He persistently called out to the person
he could not see, but knew only by reputation - Jesus,
Son of David, have pity on me. Finally, he approaches
Jesus with a fervent request, Master, I want to see.
Bartimaeus had every confidence. He somehow knew
that Jesus could accomplish what seemed, to others, to
be impossible.
Jesus responds to the beggar’s deep faith: Go
your way, your faith has saved you. Immediately, the
blind man can see and he follows Jesus.
We, too, seek Jesus’ help, whenever we pray.
We cannot save him, but we call out, confident that he
will answer. We even dare to call him by name, the
name that the angel gave to Mary - Jesus, that is
“YHWH saves.” Because Jesus has already been faith-
ful to us, we approach our Savior, our redeemer, our
friend - and we ask for his help, we beg for his mercy
and we plead for his miracles.
Jesus does not tire of our prayers. His Spirit
inspires us to speak them. Our faith reminds us of his
faithfulness and the salvation he has already won for
us.
God Love Ya!

Are you a Mandated Reporter? As part of our Catholic commitment to safe environments, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia recently updated its policies and training curriculum for mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. These new policies reflect the Church's com-mitment to always do more, as well as new Pennsylvania laws that go into effect on December 31, 2014. If you have direct contact with children, you may be a man-
dated reporter. Maryellen Carrol is our Safe Environment Coordinator can be reached at 215-468-4777 with any ques-tions. Information is also available at www.childyouthprotection.org.
As we continue to do all we can to keep our children safe,
also know that the Office for Child and Youth Protection
provides services, resources, and support toward healing for
victims and survivors of child sexual abuse and their fami-
lies. Victim services can be reached at 1-888-800-8780 or
via email at [email protected].
Go Make Disciples (From Archdi-
ocesan Office for Evangelization) Before his Ascension into Heaven, Christ commissioned his disciples, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” (Mt 28:19). In doing so, the Lord handed on to
the Church his own mission of drawing the world into a living and saving relationship with him-self. Indeed, the Church exists for this mission, she exists to evangelize. She is the living and effica-cious sign of God’s desire for man’s salvation and her mission is to gather the world into the embrace of God in Christ. Nowhere is this mission more present than in the parish. The parish is where the gift of salvation in Christ reaches out and touches the concrete lives of the men and women of every time and place. In the parish, the human race finds the doorway into the saving mystery of God’s love. It is in the parish, then, that evangelization finds its privileged place of expression. We can say in the same spirit of Pope Paul VI that the parish “exists to evangelize.” Many of us have witnessed, in person or on televi-sion, the celebration of our Faith with last month's World Meeting of Families and the visit of Pope Francis to Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and New York. With every word and action, Pope Francis acted as an evangelizer. He spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and challenged all members of our faith and the rest of the country to do a better job of caring for not only our brothers and sisters in this country and throughout the world but also for all that God created.
We are called to follow in his example. To evangel-ize in the name of Jesus Christ is to treat people with dignity and respect because we are all created in the image and likeness of God and God loves us all unconditionally. To evangelize is to absorb as much of our faith that we can by attending Mass and other celebrations, such as Forty Hours, that nurture us spiritually and mentally. To evangelize is to embrace our FAITH and make sure our love for the Lord is what motivates our words and actions. Surround yourself with the love of Jesus Christ and be good Evangelizers!

The journey will allow you to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ and learn about the Roman Catholic Faith. If interested or if you have any
