    Board PositionsMembership Ocer: Responsible or all new memberships, maintain records o

    memberships and compile/distribute school directory.

    Assist. Membership Ocer: Assist membership ofcer and assume duties in their absence.

    Chair PositionsField Day- A un tness event that allows children to participate in a ew hours orecreation. Usually near the last day o school.

    Grounds keeping- Enhance school grounds through clean-up, landscape development

    and gardening.Refections - National PTA Fine Arts competition to highlight the importance oArt in education.

    Service Learning (C.A.T.S. Day) - Event to help students understand the importance ovolunteering and helping others.

    Sign Coordinator - Post inormation on the sign in ront o school or school related events.

    Talent Show - Program giving students the opportunity to perorm onstage or theirpeers and amilies.

    Theme Day - One day event eaturing activity based workshops and assemblies. Alter-nates between Career Day, Fine Arts Day, International Day, and Science Day or other theme.

    Field Day May 31!At the end of each school year, BLE hosts Field Day.

    Themes may change, but the core elements

    of the event are the same each year.

    On Field Day, students, parents, sta:

    Laugh together

    Try new activities

    Enjoy the weather

    Spend time with friends

    Make memories

    If youd like to experience this with your childand/or you just need a change in your daily routine,

    please volunteer for the event.Ensuring that Field Day is safe and enjoyable requires

    many parent (or grandparent, etc.) volunteers.

    BLE cafeteria pizza and childcare will be available.

    *The Volunteer Training is important to ourhaving a smooth and successful Field Day.

    However, if you can volunteer on 5/31 but just cant makethe training the night before, please dont let that deter you

    from signing up.

    2013 ClarkstonFoundation Teacherof the Year!Clarkston Foundation views teaching as a wonderul and re warding career.

    According to this Foundations philosophy, There are always teachers that go

    above and beyond what is expec ted o them. These are individuals that have a

    deep passion or what they do and are willing to go the extra mile so their stu-

    dents will get the absolute most out o their time spe nt with them. This year

    13 outstanding elementary educators rom the Clarkston Community Schools

    were nominated or Clarkston Foundation Teacher o the Year award. Among

    them are three BLE teachers: Renee Avery, 3rd grade teacher, who was

    also selected as one o Teacher o the Year fnalists; Kathy Noble, 1st grade

    teacher; and Daniel Minot, 4th grade teacher. Congratulations!

    THANK YOU!! to all o our customers who ordered Market Day in April,as well as throughout the year! We appreciate all your orders to help raise

    $133 or Bailey Lake or the month o April.

    Bailey Lake earns 10% prot rom every sale. Throughout the 2012-2013

    school year, Market Days grocery program raised over $1000.

    The one-time only catalog ofered in December 2013, raised over $1200.

    Thank you also to our loyal volunteers who help make Market Day run so

    smoothly: Kim Hardtke, Lisa Damone and Shelly Ferguson.

    Dear Bailey Lake Families,

    The annual C.A.T.S. (Connecting AcademicsThrough Service) activities took place over thelast ew weeks. Students participated in a varietyo presentations to connect with our communitypartners, wore Hats or C.A.T.S. to raise unds or

    the animal shelter, and conducted grade levelservice learning projects. Donations o moneyand supplies were made to all o our partners.Thanks to the C.A.T.S team or organizing agreat event!

    Please keep in mind the saety o our students while dropping of and picking upstudents. DRIVE SLOWLY!

    With only our weeks o schools let, it is amazing to think back on the wonderul opportuni-

    ties that are ofered to our Bailey Lake students. Our volunteers are a big part o this. Thanks to allthose that make BLE a great place to learn with extension and enrichment oferings or all!
