EUROPEAN GENERATION COMPANIES BUYING INTO EVS
• Germany’s RWE was in early on EV charging and sells charging infrastructure and other EV-related services through its spinoff company Innogy
• E.ON is deploying a fast charging corridor from Norway down to Italy in partnership with e-mobility service provider CLEVER.
• French energy company ENGIE acquired charging infrastructure company EV-Box as well as investing in e-scooter company Gogoro
• Italy’s Enel reached across the Atlantic to acquire EV charging services company eMotorwerks
• A consortium including energy companies National Grid, British Gas, Scottish Power, and ESB is researching the potential for integrating PEVs into operations across the UK

UTILITY OPTIONS FOR EV CHARGING PARTICIPATION
• EVSE Rebates (Residential, Commercial, Workplace, MDU)
• “Make ready” -- prepare infrastructure and capacity for EV charging, no charging equipment- Site owner installs and manages EV charger
• Fully fund hardware/installation, but site owned- Charging network operator labeled and operated- Site owner collects fees
• Owner-operator- White labeled by utility or charging network branded- Utility provides or subcontracts operation and
maintenance- Utility sets rates and collects fees

UTILITIES FACE UNCERTAINTY IN ADDRESSING PEV MARKET
• The recent regulatory trend has been against rate basingEVSE investment• Michigan: Consumer’s Energy withdrew a proposal for installing charging
stations due to the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) concern about impact on ratepayers
• Missouri: PSC stated it doesn’t have jurisdiction over EV charging investment
• Utilities are incentivizing PEV purchases as an alternative• Burlington Electric offering $1,200 rebate on PEV purchase• SCE offering $450 incentive for new or used PEV purchase• Nissan using utilities in Colorado, Hawaii, and other states as marketing
channel for $10,000 LEAF rebate

• Structure• Groups assigned to topics based on survey preferences and representation of
different stakeholders
• REV Connect team member will help facilitate each group’s discussion
• Write ideas on sticky notes, and place them on flip charts

REV CONNECTREV CONNECT
Breakout Working Session
• Considerations• STAKEHOLDERS: Who is impacted?
• BENEFITS: What benefits accrue to each stakeholder?
• MONETIZATION: How might the benefits that are generated be monetized? Which REV financial mechanisms could be relevant?
• PARTNERSHIP VALUE: How can utility-market partnership offer more value vs. going it alone?
• RISK/REWARD SHARING: How would cost, risk, and reward be allocated among stakeholders?
REV CONNECTREV CONNECT
Speed Networking
• Structure• Side A = Utilities Stay put
• Side B = EV Solution Providers Rotate clockwise every 5 min
• Questions for Discussion• Why did you come today?
• What’s one thing that you learned that you’ll take back from this?
• What’s one thing that hasn’t been discussed today that’s worth raising?

Working Session Debrief
• Themes and Takeaways• Lots of overlap between groups (grid services, data value, de-risking, customer/site
acquisition)
• Inconsistent regulatory support for direct regulated utility investment in infrastructure clearly over time there is value increasing value in partnerships
• Different stakeholders have different customer/market relationships and insight that are helpful in designing a complete package
• Both V1G and V2G can provide significant value
• Culture change and customer education is important for successful customer adoption
