"To interpret the cards, the Gypsy told of two things that had to be kept in mind: the image,

which "provoked feelings and memories in the heart and min"', and the sentence (the card's

title), which 'guided sensitivities and perception in the right direction'."

-Lo Scarabeo

Messenger or Message

An unexpected announcement or invitation. Awaiting results.

News via a telephone call or in this day and age a text etc.

However, generally, the news is verbal. Waiting for some results.

Look to the card beside it for an explanation as to the type of

message it is. You either will be receiving a message or you have

one to convey.

Reunion or Fidelity

Loyalty, honesty, unconditional types of love, like family. Strong

friendships, a loyal person or situation. A trusting friend. A

volunteer- offers help without expectation of reward.

Circumstances or surrounding cards may warn of a need for

caution, someone may be taken for granted here. Don't set

yourself up for abuse of kindness or a betrayal of trust.

Foe or Rival

Foe can mean being your own worst enemy and the rivalry

might be self created, these are things to consider first.

Could also be a competition or a comparison, seeing things

from the other side of the fence. Do not make it about

comparing oneself to others or competing with the perceived

self and the true self.

Indicates that you are reluctant in asserting your rights and

standing up for yourself. Consequently, you are losing your

credibility and standing with others. Alternatively, this card

means that you need to be more aggressive. Balance means

you don't sit down when you should be standing up and vice

versa.

Also may suggest that you have neglected your duties or

abandoned your responsibilities. "Given up."

House

Family and emotional bonds.

Home, security. What is the sacrifice for that home and what

and who have you filled it with? Is there balance? Is the

security an illusion? What environment have you created and

do you perpetuate.

Could be some new project, perhaps one related to home or

somewhere you feel at home.

The house card also serves to represent your own soul and self

as a sort of metaphor, do you need to "clean house?"

A need to accept responsibilities and be more self-reliant. It

isn't all about meeting the expectations of others.

A card of emotions, perhaps insufficiently dealt with

depression. Could result in anger issues like flying of the

handle.

A provoking circumstance that tests your patience.

Represents the many hardships and cruelties that you

will experience in the world. More importantly, how you

handle them.

It could also represent that others are in despair and

denotes that someone around you will be in need of

your help. You'll know who it is right away.

Haughtiness or Pride

An arrogance, conceit.

Overly ambitious. Blind ambition that sould lead to

frivolous choices or selfish choices where others aren't

taken into account and consequences aren't

considered.

Cheerfulness or Party

Unlike joyfulness this card is indicative of a more

"unknown" or unfamiliar crowd. The variables are more

unknown.

There is opportunity though, a chance to meet new

people and make new connections. Of course that can

go either way so there is a need for caution.

who is very depressed.

Feeling inexplicably under the weather. This shall pass, a

temporary state of mind.

May signify disappointments, consider whether they are

self perpetuated. There might be an Inability to connect

with others; feeling withdrawn and distant.

Remember, you cannot always win at everything. This

could be a perceived failure after a period of success

that was taken for granted. It is a reminder to be

grateful for what you do have rather than despondent

about what you don't.

Scholar or Old Man

Senior, retirement, longevity.

Wisdom or forgiveness.

Offering guidance to some daily problem but from a

more scholarly and less personal perspective. Book

smarts, over "street smarts."

If this is a person it may be someone who has a very

"BTDT" attitude and thus considers themselves superior,

or deep down is insecure about being an "old dog who

can't learn new tricks." S/he might be condescending or

patronizing while dispensing wisdom, you can learn

much more than they intended to teach you.

Waiting or Jealousy

Spying, resentment, envy, the other woman.

Feelings that are often based on assumptions fueled by

paranoia and lack of true communication.

Wanting that which is not yours. Envy.

dependence/independence, especially in a

relationship. Beware: co-dependence.

some unknown situation or decision.

concept of romance of the kind that only exists in epic

novels. Things need to be looked at realistically.

Pag

Frivolity or Inconstancy

Undecided, irregular, fickle, changing.

The flight path of the butterfly may seem undecided

and irregular, even frivolous but consider the migratory

patterns of Monarchs, the only butterflies that make a

two way migration. They are resilient and strong and

find their way over great distance and adversity.

Of course butterflies are representative of change or

may represent an idea coming to fruition after having

made it from chrysalis to butterfly. Make choices that

lead to growth.

Pleasure Seekers or Desire

Anxiety, longing, craving, wishful thinking.

Wishing or yearning for something that is seemingly out

of your control or just out of reach.

The hope of the hopeless, that if you just wish hard

enough or pray hard enough you can manifest

whatever you want without having to give anything.

Similar feeling to addiction, the feeling of being so close

to the "perfect bliss" but need just one more...or just

have to do this one thing...sooo close.

Be careful how you proceed, your choices will lead to

your delight or to your detriment.

Page 12: Reunion or Fidelity - tolearnissublime.files.wordpress.com · e 1 Gypsy Oracle Cards- 18th Century "To interpret the cards, the Gypsy told of two things that had to be kept in mind:

learning about yourself. A true friend will tell you the

truth even if it's awkward.

Positive news.

Lessons learned and gratitude to those who helped with

those lessons either by demonstrating what TO do or

what NOT to do.

Sweetheart

Female "seeker" of the cards: If you are a female this

card represents you in a reading. The cards surrounding

the sweetheart will tell you what’s going on currently.

If you are a male, then the sweetheart is your special

lady, wife or girlfriend. If you don't have one, she can

represent a good female friend or sister.

In the future spot predicts the potential of a love affair.

Symbolizes acceptance and self-worth, and

acknowledgement of your true inner-value.

You are feeling complete and whole.

Lover

Male seeker of cards: The special man, husband,

boyfriend. The special man for a female seeker of the

cards. Represents the male getting the reading.

Death

Farewell, finalization, endings, the answer, right now, is

no. Ends are followed by new beginnings.

A cycle card. It’s over. Saying good-bye. Time to move

on. Forget the past and head off into a different

direction.

It's not just about starting over, it's about starting fresh

with a new recipe. There is upheaval, yes. Take nothing

for granted and rebirth will follow. Take nothing with you

that will no longer serve forward progress.

Wife

This card may actually represent the querents wife.

May also represent a desire to be in a committed

relationship. Remember to think with the head and

heart in balance and not too much with one or the

other.

Something needs to be tended to. There is the sense of

nurturing here, "a mother's work is never done."

Page 15: Reunion or Fidelity - tolearnissublime.files.wordpress.com · e 1 Gypsy Oracle Cards- 18th Century "To interpret the cards, the Gypsy told of two things that had to be kept in mind:

Pag

e15

Old Woman

May be something from the past to incorporate into

your life.

Wise decisions.

Alternatively, unyielding ways and rigid thinking.

Fear of aging.

Avoid fear and the stubborn "set in one's ways" attitude,

that leads to stagnation. There is a difference between

a wise elder and a stagnant, stubborn elder.

Malady

Illness, burden, recovery, tardiness.

Negative well-being. When the physical, mental and

spiritual are out of balance.

Possibility of using sickness as an excuse not to deal with

something or someone or to avoid unpleasant changes.

Inability to cope with a situation. Avoid situations where

malady is about seeking attention or a hand-out.

The card is a reminder that life is too precious and that

you need to make the most of your time every day.

Positive outcome is a choice, as is staying sick.

Page 16: Reunion or Fidelity - tolearnissublime.files.wordpress.com · e 1 Gypsy Oracle Cards- 18th Century "To interpret the cards, the Gypsy told of two things that had to be kept in mind:

Pag

Falseness

This card is a warning against falseness of the type

where you never know what you're going to get. Like

when you're petting a cat and it's purring but then all of

the sudden he bites you seemingly out of the blue.

There is a certain level of defensiveness here but it is of a

protective nature.

A cat is a cunning hunter and as such, a patient

observer. This card is telling you to observe right now

and participate later.

Cats got a bad rap in the 1600's as they were thought to

be the familiars of witches. To the supernaturally

paranoid this card could be seen as a bad omen but to

some, cats are representative of seeing more than

most, gazing past the veil. They are mysterious and wise.

Journey

Travel. An actual physical journey, a journey of the soul

or both. The journey can pertain to the physical, mental

or spiritual paths or all three. Either way, growth is the

result.

The journey might be due to some emergency and will

result in change for the better, even if it doesn't seem so

right away.

Taking off, physical trip of the "flying by the seat of your

pants" nature.

Signifies good fortune, self-discovery or progress.

Always a welcoming and harmonious change.

Page 17: Reunion or Fidelity - tolearnissublime.files.wordpress.com · e 1 Gypsy Oracle Cards- 18th Century "To interpret the cards, the Gypsy told of two things that had to be kept in mind:

Pag

e17

Thief

Cheating. Despicable behavior.

Losing something, misplacement, swindle. A good time

to consider what you find "valuable" and how you

define "value."

This card signifies all that is stolen – does not have to be

physically taken. Theft goes on all the time. Spending

time with someone who drains you is a form of theft -

they are stealing your peace of mind.

When this card is next to the enemy card there is a

warning not to be careless with your valuables.

Obviously, there is a need for caution indicated here,

someone is trying or will try to swindle you in some way.

Financially or emotionally. Watch your back. If it doesn't

seem to pertain to you, it might be about a friend whom

you'll need to warn.

Prison

Limitations, rules, entrapment, loneliness.

Censorship or an inability to express yourself. Are you

being censored by others or censoring yourself?

Suggests that some situation or relationship is making

you feel restricted. You may be experiencing a loss of

freedom in some area of your life.

Alternatively, this card represents your feelings of shame

a guilt. It is telling you to stop punishing yourself.

Perhaps your outdated beliefs or old ways of thinking

are preventing you from going anywhere.

attachments, possibly as a crutch.

Time to move forward but never forget, just make sure

you're taking a healthy approach, physically, mentally

and spiritually.

Misfortune

Bad news, discomfort, obstacles.

A card of warning.

Potential mishap or freak circumstance.

Expect the unexpected.

Something is in need of your attention.

Stop and rethink the consequences of your actions. It's

never only about the misfortune, it's about how it is

handled.

Page 19: Reunion or Fidelity - tolearnissublime.files.wordpress.com · e 1 Gypsy Oracle Cards- 18th Century "To interpret the cards, the Gypsy told of two things that had to be kept in mind:

Soldier or Officer

The other man, person in authority but who plays at

having more authority than he really does.

As a person it will be anyone that wears a uniform. News

comes from this person that is more formal than

personal.

If you get involved with this man, he will love you &

leave you. A playboy.

Signifies discipline and structure but only as a means to

his own ends.

Imposing thoughts and feelings on others.

Always ready to "do battle" over an issue and never one

to admit they might be wrong.

Sighs or Widow

A woman without a partner. A divorcee or widow or a

woman abandoned. Loneliness, grief. A woman in

sorrow. Feeling overwhelmed.

A situation that causes pain. Often the situation brings

out strength you didn't even know you had, go with it.

Avoid giving in to fear of separation, you might find

you're better off in the end.

Often related to isolation and a feeling of

abandonment. Use that time in isolation to your

advantage with grounded introspection.

Differentiate between things and prioritize them with

your own needs in mind for once.

Conversation or Judge

Final verdict, decisions by those in authority.

Weighing the pros and cons in a situation. Think of using

a "speaking stick" to have a conversation with the intent

to rectify a situation.

Being put through a test.

This card indicates that communication is needed and if

the outcome will affect you, you should be a part of the

conversation, don't take no for an answer, get your two

cents worth in or you may end up carrying regret and

always wonder if there may have been a better

outcome.

Money

Possible inheritance.

Winning, luck, abundance.

Increase.

Wealth, especially if this card is beside the FORTUNE

card.

Success and prosperity is within your reach.

Confidence, self-worth, success, or values.

General, overall good fortune.

e22

Constancy

Lack of change, solid, accountability, fixed.

Everything stays the same, this is usually positive, there

are some things that shouldn't change, like those things

you have fought hard or suffered for such as lessons

learned.

If you are wondering about a negative situation, it

doesn’t look like it will improve. To move forward,

accept accountability for your part and move on.

Stand tall, doing the right thing isn't always easy but you

know what's right.

Sorrow or Loss

Risk resulting in decline, decrease, losing. Learn from

that risk so you don't make the same mistakes again

and again.

It’s a no-go. Could be with relation to money issues or a

break-up in a relationship.

Betting against the odds & losing.

An inability to see the causes of your problems and

consequences of your decisions has led to this sorrow

While the circumstances that brought it may have been

out of your control at this point look within to determine

if you're choosing it and why.

Merchant or Profit

Gain, advantage, increase, freebie. Always looking for

more.

With regard to business aspirations and professional

goals it's time to be open to changes and looking at

things with a different perspective.

Alternatively, you or someone close to you may be

taking advantage of others or is being taken

advantage of. Someone is manipulating for their own

there are two kinds: 1. self serving and 2. In service, try to

support the right ones.

Surprise or Unexpected Joy

Findings, recognition.

A situation comes up that started horribly and turned

out great.

Hope

Anticipation, waiting.

Meditate on the future and knowing there will be a

positive outcome.

All is possible through "faith," however you define it.

It might be that the situation won't change much but

your perception of it will. Your way of looking at it from a

different perspective opens the door to getting the most

out of the situation.

Service

Submission, serving. Being part of a crew.

An opportunity to keep your head down and learn

more about humility, gratitude, respect and forgiveness.

Receiving help or offering help to others without

expectation of reward. How people treat you says more

about them than you. How you handle the way people

treat you says more about you than them.

This is overall good fortune in the physical, mental and

spiritual realms and increases the good fortune in

surrounding cards as well.

Doctor or Physician

Medicine man or woman.

To care. Advisor.

Need for emotional or physical healing.

Medical concerns. This card is a warning, take care of

health now while you still can. You may feel there is an

emotional wound you need to bandage up but it's past

the stage of a band-aid. It's acute and going chronic,

action must be taken to avoid further loss of health.

Young Woman

A blind date.

Represents nurturing, patience, a caring nature and

love.

Refers to your own female aspects or to your mother.

Alternatively, it represents giving in to temptation and

resultant guilt.

There is braveness but it's coupled with carelessness and

the naivety of youth. A stage where one has gained

some knowledge but has little experience applying it so

it can become wisdom.

Priest or Ecclesiastic

Faith, power of prayer, religious connotation, a church

or chapel. Anyone involved in an organized belief

system. So in that context: Sexual repression, chastity

and abstinence.

Could represent last rites, perhaps metaphorically, and

there is a need for morality.

For those who don't readily accept the God formula

and related dogmatic principles the card is a reminder

to look deeply into our own practices and rites and

evaluate our ethical code to be certain we are on the

right path.

This card might also be a sign to visit whatever your

equivalent of a temple or church is, even if that means

going into a forest or climbing a mountain, it's time to re-

connect or discover new connections to your idea of

the Powers that Be.
