RETURN TO GOD!
King Hezekiah began the restoration process by re-opening the doors of the temple,
removing the accumulated debris, and sanctifying the priests. Next he sent
messengers throughout all of Judah and Israel compelling the people of God to
return to God. Living without acknowledging God was the new normal and it was
evident by the rejection of the message and ridicule of the messengers. However,
those who returned to Jerusalem in order to worship God were so impacted by the
presence of God and the fellowship of the saints that they traveled throughout the
nation going from city to city destroying idols and tearing down altars in high
places. Their re-prioritization of worship led to the destruction of strongholds and
reestablishment of the blessings of God.
Christians everywhere, Return to God! Repent of our negligence and restore our
commitment to worship God. The well-being of cities and nations is hanging in the
balance. Get into a local church and become part of a God-honoring Body so God
can use your light to scatter the darkness. (II Chronicles 29-31)
For several years, worship at the temple in
Jerusalem was gravely neglected. The nation was littered
with idols and everyone did what was right in their own
eyes. As the Northern Kingdom of Israel teetered on the
brink of destruction, God was raising up a twenty-five
year old man by the name of Hezekiah who would lead the
Southern Kingdom of Judah into a time of revival.

When it comes to life and death, many
Christians may only think, salvation and sin,
concerning the soul. Life and death are all around
us. We see them in the physical world all the
time. We see life in the spring time when flowers
bloom and death in the fall when leaves drop from
trees.
Life or death can also come from the mouth. The
words we speak about our circumstances,
ourselves, and others. Life or death, are in the
decisions we make daily.
One of the life or death decisions some people tend
to forget is what we eat. Each individual needs
food to sustain their health. We must nourish our
brain, heart, and other organs to survive. However,
the choices we make in eating living foods or dead
foods can mean life or death. Just below you will
hear about living foods versus dead foods. It is
information found in the book “The Seven Pillars
of Health”, by Don Colbert M.D.
Dead food's will make you disease prone and will
cause degenerative diseases such as diabetes,
cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and will make you
overweight. They will also make you fatigued and
prone to develop hypertension and high
cholesterol.
Living foods will protect your body from cancer,
heart disease, all degenerative diseases, obesity,
and they will sharpen your mind as well as energize
you, and enliven you.
Everything you put in your mouth has the potential
to produce life or death. But eating the wrong foods
will bring curses of poor health. Some foods should
not be labeled "food" but rather "consumable
product" or edible, but void of nourishment."
Living foods exist in a raw or close-to raw state.
Living foods include fruits, vegetables, grains,
seeds, and nuts. They are plucked, harvested, and
squeezed, not processed, packaged, and put on a
shelf. Living foods are recognized as food.
Dead foods are the opposite. They are
living foods that have fallen into human hands and
have been altered in every imaginable way making

them last as long as possible at room temperature
and to be as addictive as possible to the
consumer.
Life breeds life. Death breeds death. When you eat
living foods, the enzymes in their pristine state
interact with your digestive enzymes. The
Dead foods are the opposite. They are living foods
that have fallen into human hands and have been
altered in every imaginable way making them last
as long as possible at room temperature and to be
as other natural ingredients God put in them-
vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, antioxidants,
fiber, and more-flow into your system in their
natural state. These living foods were created for
our digestive systems, bloodstream, and organs.
Dead foods hit our bodies like a foreign intruder.
Chemicals, including preservatives, food
additives, bleaching agents, and so on, place a
strain on the liver. Toxic man-made fats begin to
form in our cell membranes and become
incorporated in our bodies or stored as fats. They
begin to form plaque in our arteries. Fat also
contains compounds called leptins. When the
small intestine detects options, it sends a message
to the brain saying, "I'm satisfied, I'm full, stop
eating." However, it takes about twenty minutes
from the time we start eating for the food to reach
our small intestines and leptin is able to signal the
brain to stop eating, and most Americans can eat a
tremendous amount of food in twenty minutes.
Your brain, sensing that it still doesn't have the
nutrition it needs, sends out hunger signals. You
eat again- more of the same dead food. Your body
does its best to harvest the tiny traces of good
from the food, buy in the end you are
undernourished, overfed the wrong foods, and
overweight.
With this bit of information, you can now arm
yourself and make better choices. Life and death
is just not in the tongue, but can also be found in
the food you eat.

As I thought about what Bill said I became surer, if nothing else, that I
could identify with that dream. I don’t like reoccurring bad dreams and there has
to be a way to stop going around the mountain and repeating those same
experiences that got you going in circles anyways. If you did before and lost your
way and don’t have the road map that shows you better direction to follow, you’re
apt to follow those reject experiences, that will, unfortunately, land you in the
same lap of misery you just left. You may not be able to understand a map, you
may need a guide. A trusted guide someone you know has good traveling
experience, not just a wanderer, but someone who has been led by the best guide
and understands how to discern the good, the bad, and the ugly of the road trip.
And lastly, if you don’t always want to be a follower and would like to be
a leader, you will have to differentiate what leadership qualities you are looking
for. And seek out those who you trust and who you bond with. In addition, trust
someone with tried and true results with evidence under their belt. Denzel
Washington once said, “You never see a U-Haul following a hearse, you cannot
take it with you.” Make your life count for something that others can emulate
long after you’re gone”. Written By: Annie Hines
Bill Watterson: commencement speech graduating class of 1990 of Kenyon
“…I’ve had a reoccurring dream about Kenyon, in it; I’m walking to the post office. On the way to my first
class at the start of the school year, suddenly occurs to me that I don’t have my schedule memorized and I’m
not sure which classes I’m taking or where exactly I’m supposed to be going. As I walked up the steps to the
post office I realized I don’t have my box key, in fact, I can’t remember what my box number is, I’m certain
that everyone I know has written me a letter but I can’t get them. I get more flustered and annoyed by the
minute. I head back to middle path, racking my brains and asking myself, how many more years until I
graduate, wait, didn’t I graduate already? How old am I? Then I wake up. This reoccurring dream serves
as a reminder that the central image is a metaphor, that is, a good part of your life – not knowing where
you’re going or what you’re doing”.
