DOWNTOWN COMMONS. With the recent revival of downtown Twin Falls there is just one thing missing — a heart.

That heart is the new Downtown Commons, which opened July 6, 2018 featuring the grand reveal of the art designed by local artists, as well as a bronze statue of Twin Falls surveyor John Hayes.

Urban Renewal Agency Executive Director Nate Murray said the location of the commons is strategically placed at the heart of the city. The quarter-acre area will be at Main Avenue and Hansen Street and will include a splash pad, plant life and a stage that will serve as the venue for the Twin Falls Tonight concert series this summer.

The downtown commons is the result of saved up money from the Urban Renewal Agency, Murray said.

MILNER’S GATE. Known to many as the Elk’s Lodge, the Public Library, and most recently the Historical Ballroom. Milner’s Gate is located on the ground floor & basement of the recently preserved building on the corner of Shoshone and Second, right in the heart of downtown.

KOTO BREWING CO. The building was originally owned by the

Koto family. Because Tojiro and Kai Koto were

Japanese citizens in 1920, and by law, they

couldn’t own property. They deeded the

building in the name of their 2-year-old son,

Tom. The owner, who also owns The Sandwich

Co. a few doors down, wanted to pay respect

to the history of the Koto Building — hence the name Koto Brewing Co. Remnants of the past

still linger around Koto Brewing. Exposed brick, original wooden beams and garage-style doors opening to the street give the building an industrial warehouse look. Old doors from
