Presently involved in operation of Zero discharge ETP of Alembic

Pharmaceuticals Ltd., API II, Panelav.

ETP comprises of Stripper(50 kl/day), ETP (60 kl/day), RO plant (70

kl/day), MEE (kl/day).

Looking after operation of Stripper, ETP, RO plant and MEE plant.

Also looking after Lab analysis, Liaison Documentaion work , Preparation

of Standard Operating Procedures, working on GPCB XGN .

Work Responsibilities:

Had been working with chemicals division of

Alembic Ltd., Vadodara.

Had been involved in Operation of Effluent

Treatment Plant which consists of Primary (Centrifuge & Clarifier),

Secondary and Tertiary treatment facility and Air Pollution Control Facility

consists of scrubbers at Alembic – Vadodara unit.

Trouble shooting of daily process problems conduct

process studies and recommend modification/schemes to optimize the

plan efficiency.

ABOUT PLANT:

The effluent emanated from production, is treated in effluent treatment

plant consists of anaerobic and aerobic system.

ETP plant is designed to dispose off 2085 kl/day. The effluents of higher

organic load are given treatment in anaerobic section where organic

matter is biologically hydrolyzed and acidified to lower organic acids. The

gas generated in the tower is flared & H2S gas is scrubbed in the

scrubbers. The treated effluent from anaerobic section is transferred to

aerobic section for further treatment. The aerobic treatment consists of

primary treatment (equalization, biotowers, primary clarifiers), secondary

treatment (aeration tanks, secondary clarifiers) and tertiary treatment

( final clarifier). Treated effluent is discharged to VMC sewage plant with

GPCB permissible limits.

Work responsibilities

ETP operation & waste water analysis. Treat ability study on waste water

of different products.

Dealing with the environment consultants and liaisoning work which

includes CC&A application, Water cess return, Environment statement and

dealing with the GPCB officials for other legal matters.

Dealing with CETP ( Common Effluent Treatment Plant of GIDC ) officials

for final treated effluent quality and its disposal. Coordination for the

disposal of Hazardous waste at Common Incineration facility at NECL and

ETP sludge at landfill site – NECL.

ABOUT PLANT:

Operation of ETP consists of primary ( physico-chemical treatment of

lime-alum & polyelectrolyte), secondary and tertiary treatment facility and

air pollution control facility consists of HCl scrubber. ETP plant has a

capacity of discharge of 60 kl/day.

December – 1999 to January - 2004 Site In Charge - ETP

Managing qualified staff of twenty people. There were six B.Sc. graduates

working as DCS panel operators and fourteen under graduates field

operators. Managing their shift schedules and salary payment.

Stripper operation from DCS panel including the distribution of field

work among field operators, filling up report log books & various log

sheets akin to equipments of stripper plant.

Operation of Aniline incinerator from DCS panel where aniline tar is

incinerated at 750 - 800.c temperature.

Monitoring the operating parameters as per the work instructions (WI)

and controlling the same.

Co-ordination with the field operators for the smooth operation of

stripper.

Co-ordination with QC department for GC, HPLC analysis report and

taking corrective action to improve product quality.

Taking corrective action for any deviation of process parameter.

Inspection and trouble shooting of the equipments during the shut down.

Detecting the alarming situation of equipments to avoid break down of

the same.

Responsibility of on line work permit system.

To ensure smooth operation of ETP, proper consumption of raw material

and 100% efficiency of staff.

Preparation of various monthly reports and monthly compliance reports to

GPCB.

ISO 9001:14001:18001 activities like list of critical equipments which

includes what line of action should be taken in case of maintenance of

some critical equipments. Emergency preparedness which includes what

safety measures should be taken during handling of some hazardous

chemicals. Identification of significant aspects, raising and implementation

of EMP.

ABOUT PLANT:

Waste water with traces of Nitro Benzene, Aniline, Benzene is sent to Stripper

column for azeotropic distillation where crude NB (90%) is recovered and tar of

Aniline is separated and incinerated at Aniline incinerator with 800 deg. Cent.

temperature. Waste water from the bottom of the column is sent for biological

treatment. Stripper plant and Aniline Incinerator are operated from DCS panel.

ETP has capacity of disposal of 561 cum/day. Waste water is given

primary treatment which consists of equalisation, neutralization (Physico

chemical treatment) and primary clarifier. Secondary treatment is followed by

first stage aeration (421 cum. Cap.), extended aeration (1500 cum. Cap.) and

secondary clarifier. Tertiary treatment consists of collection of final treated water

and passing through activated carbon filters before discharge to natural stream

with GPCB permissible limits.
