As a member of the task force, appointed by the Govt. of India, worked on proposals relating to joint ventures in the field of petrochemicals with Algeria and Middle-East countries.

Finalized mega risk policy for the company for the first time in September 2000 at an attractive rate (Saving in Premium outgo of Rs. 15-20 crores) and could arrange for renewal in September 2001 (post WTC event) at a relatively small increase in premium. Notably IOC and Reliance were refused “Mega Risk Cover” in that year. Negotiated the premium of first Mega policy from 31 crores to 26 crores.

Nominated by IPCL as a Director on the board of IVCOL, a joint venture company promoted by IPCL with Govt. Of India. Finalised restructuring and revival plan for revival of the sick undertaking.

Made presentations on various issues in the energy sector to authorities like petroleum Secretary, Member energy (Planning Commission), Chief Secretary, Govt. of Gujarat advocating suitable policy formulation

The aggregate investment in these projects was approx. Rs.4000 crores.

g) Associated with implementation of projects. The work involved negotiation of licence & basic engineering agreements, procurement, contracts fixation & execution, commercial negotiations with vendors/contractors, project cost budgeting & monitoring, project progress reviews. The aggregate investment in these projects was approx. Rs.800 crores.

h) I have been almost a permanent member of any project team in IPCL as a finance member.

2) Budgeting & MIS.

a) In charge of the budget section of the company. Work involved preparation of the sixth five-year plan, annual plans, budgets of the company. Supplied authentic data required by various Govt. agencies like Parliament's estimates committee, bureau of public enterprises, Planning commission & the parent ministry. Assisted Director (Finance) in reviewing & monitoring actual performance vis-à-vis budget.

b) In the costing section supplied necessary costing data for

decision making. Made special reports on performance of the plants to highlight areas having problems, Bottlenecks & untapped opportunities.

3) Operations and Materials Department

a) Financial advice & control for operations group to achieve the goal of productivity & efficiency. Financial advice & control for Materials Dept. endeavored to save money in procurement & reduce inventory levels by careful scrutiny of data & proposals. Supervised the operation of the Excise section for compliance with statutory procedures. Effective operation of the MODVAT system & exports ensured.

4) Marketing Finance:

a) Financial advice & control for Delhi region marketing office. Enforced financial discipline on distributors & credit customers.

b) Working at head quarters for marketing finance as General Manager (Finance). Involved in pricing decisions for all products, distributor operations policy regulation and control, credit policy and monitoring of debtors, export of products et al. IPCL’s gross turnover is above Rs.5500 crores and distribution network consists of eight regional offices and more than 90 distributors.

c) Finalized mega risk policy for the company for the first time in September 2000 at an attractive rate and could arrange for renewal in September 2001 (post WTC event) at a relatively small increase in premium. Mega risk policy also got renewed for 2002-2003 due to excellent claim ratio while all other industry players could not get such a cover, resulting in saving of over Rs.50 crores.
