DOCSIS CABLE Modem at STMicroelectronics Pvt Ltd. (Feb 2006 to July 2007 and October 2007 till date) Project Description DOCSIS is a worldwide standard for sending data over legacy cable networks. The project

involves development of cable modem software and test cases for DOCSIS Technology.

Responsibilities

ATP Development of DOCSIS CABLE Modems at Conexant Systems Pvt. Ltd. (July 2007 and October 2007) Development Language: TCL/TK.

Responsibilities:

Switch Engineer, Reliance Infocomm (May 2005 to February 2006 ) Responsibilities:

• Software designing and development of Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) module for DOCSIS 3.1 Cable

Modems. Work involved creating a detailed low level design and coding of the PNM module, which involved

developing PNM task which would run over OS21 (RTOS) and interact with other cable modem software modules

such as SNMP, PHY drivers, MAC drivers and IP Stack. Also involved in bug fixing of various software modules.

• Software design and development of DOCSIS Base Line Privacy Key Management Protocol (BPKM). BPKM is

used for secure key exchange for establishing shared MAC layer traffic encryption keys. Work involved designing a

low level design and coding of BPKM Task, Authorization and TEK FSMs and related data structures.

• Software debugging and bug fixing of various DOCSIS features in cable modem implementation in areas related to

DOCSIS MAC Layer (OFMD, CDMA, TDMA), Security protocol, L2/L3 data forwarding, VLAN, L2VPN,

Quality of Service (QoS) implementation, Packet classification, IP and MAC filtering, Secure Software Upgrade

and upper layer protocols such as IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, SNMPv1 v2c V3, VACM, UCM, IGMP, MLD, PIM, ICMP,

NAT, TCP, UDP.

• Designed automated framework for performance testing of Cable Modems and Residential Gateways using

TCL/TK. The framework would perform automated throughput testing using OOKlA Web Server, IPERF,

Smartbits and FTP. These test were performed on every major release.

• ST Representative for development of Acceptance Test Plan (ATP) for compliance to DOCSIS 3.1 Open Support

System Interface (OSSI) and Security specifications at CableLabs, USA. Also represented ST at CableLabs for

automation of various ATPs. Was involved in handling a team of 5-6 engineers for this task.

• Development and maintenance of DOCSIS test benches consisting of RF head ends, packet generators, RF

sniffers, QAM modulators and spectrum analyzers.

• Design, development and customization of test cases and automated Test

Execution Packages (TEP) for DOCSIS 2.0 and 3.0 in accordance with

Automated Test Plan (ATP) released by cable labs.

• Plan and develop; performance, soak and robustness test cases for Sunburst

DOCSIS cable modems

• Briefly worked with testing of DSL modems.

• Operation and Maintenance of Ericsson AXE-10 switches.

• Traffic Analysis and Management.
