General

Priority areas are;

1. Gas-Solid Fluidization characterization in HiGee equipment

2. Reactive Separations of carboxylic acids which are difficult to separate by conventional

distillation methods

3. Divided wall distillation columns for multicomponent mixture separation

4. Micro-channels for reactive separations

Establishing a laboratory for process intensification thereby interacting with industries and

Research & Development to work on collaborative Research projects (minor and major), apply

for funding and Joint Research Publications.

Specific

In proposed plan for next 5 years, complete hydrodynamics study of novel fluidized reactors

such as internally circulating fluidized bed (ICFB), Tapered fluidized bed (TFB) and Rotating

fluidized bed (RFB) will be pursued. The main goal of this research proposal is to develop and

adapt an intensification method of multi-phase systems and modeling approaches to

aforementioned novel fluidized bed reactors. An experimental test matrix by using a full

factorial design is proposed to study the true flow characteristics of particles in these kinds of

fluidized beds
