Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen Pty Ltd provides a superior service for all bitumen design and sealing, asphalt production and paving.
The company was established in Mackay in 1997 by brothers Andrew and Paul Galea.
David Wallman joined Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen as General Manager in 2006. With 24 years in the industry, David has the expertise backed up by many years of hands-on experience (working from ground crew to management) to advise on all aspects of spray seal and asphalt.
Under their leadership, Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen has grown from a small family business to a competitive force in the industry.
Since being in business, Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen has worked with a variety of clients in many locations.
We have successfully completed contract work for local councils, state and federal government departments, private contractors, mining companies and private householders. As industry leaders, we believe in being flexible and innovative. We have a team of experienced employees who combine valuable local knowledge of climate conditions with leading techniques and equipment.
We are registered as a quality assured supplier with Main Roads, complying with all national standards and regulations for bitumen services.

The safety of all workers, plant, machinery and the public is the main focus for Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen. This is displayed through proactive leadership and comprehensive management systems. Management are also committed to the preservation of the environment and aim to minimise the footprint left by our workers through strong environmental policies and procedures. Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen proudly holds certifications for AS/NZS 4801:2001 Occupational Health and Safety Systems as well as AS / NZS ISO 9001:2008 Quality Assurance Systems and AS / NZS ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems. Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen is the first Queensland road paving company to have achieved this under the new regulations.
We have an on-site safety officer to ensure all Work Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are enforced, followed and understood. The safety officer is also available to offer any training or guidance needed out on site.
Rex has worked in the industry for the past 8 years. He started on the ground and has worked his way up to WHS, E, Q & Training Manager through his dedication to safety, quality, the environment and training.
HUMAN RESOURCES AND TRAINING
Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen is dedicated to the training and advancement of its workers. We currently have two certified TAE40110 Trainers who deliver training packages for plant and machinery. Each new worker’s skills and training needs are assessed annually. Our Training Manager, in conjunction with All States Training, has developed a Road Works Observer training program specific to the Bitumen / Asphalt Industry to raise awareness and open communication on site.

Jasmine Wilton is our Engineer who recently joined the company. Jasmine brings with her a wealth of experience in all facets of civil construction, sealing and asphalt.
Jasmine is able to offer technical advice on specifications, seal and mix designs. Including the design, implementation and review of surface treatments in regard to new works, rehabilitation, reseals and ensuring compliance of approved designs when provided by the client.

Whatever your seal or reseal requirements, Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen have the resources and ability to cover all projects on time and with a superior finish.
We can provide just a supply and spray or a comprehensive service where we sweep, spray, spread, roll, provide traffic control and supply all products. Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen will travel to assist you wherever needed.
Our machinery fleet includes six bitumen sprayers that are capable of effectively fulfilling any spray sealing needs, whether for single or two coat bitumen seal, emulsion seal, primer seal or prime.
Our machinery also includes a Volvo FM12 sprayer, which has a 12 000L tank backed up by a 25 000L dog. Also on hand is a tanker fleet that can supply over 100 000L per day every day - anywhere - allowing us to complete anything from a small carpark to a major highway.

The plant has a production rate of 90T per hour.
Our four asphalt pavers enable us to achieve veritable widths, depending upon the needs of each individual job. Our newest Roadtec paver has miniline electronic sensors for grade and slope control.
Whether the job be a footpath, hard stand area, driveway, tennis or netball court, car park, suburban road or highway - we have the equipment and know-how to fulfil your requirements.
Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen are able to travel anywhere to do all kinds of work, including remote islands and overseas.
ASPHALT PLANT
Dan has worked in the industry for 28 years. He was previously Operations Manager with the company before taking on the Asphalt Plant Manager role. Dan has been involved with the design, construction and operations of the plant.
ASPHALT LABORATORY
Our laboratory ensures that we are providing a consistent and superior product. We have a wide range of testing procedures in both asphalt and spray sealing operations. From pavement permeability to degree of pre-coating, our laboratory staff have the knowledge and equipment to perform the task.

Joel is our Senior Laboratory Technician with 10 years experience working in Bituminous and Metrology laboratories. He brings with him an extensive range of laboratory skills and expert knowledge. Joel’s experience in asphalt production, quality control, mix design evaluation, bitumen sprayer calibration and thermal imaging research provide him with unique technical governance we can pass on to our clients.

Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen’s Traffic Control Department offers a comprehensive range of services to companies with traffic control needs throughout Central and Northern Queensland.
We can provide a team of experienced and professional Traffic Controllers to cater to your individual needs.Our Traffic Controllers are all accredited under the Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme, authorised by the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Our Traffic Controllers are all accredited to levels ranging from level 1 through level 4.
Effective traffic management and planning is imperative to ensure a safe worksite and minimise risk. Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen has an in-house team of experts ready to design and produce Traffic Guidance Schemes, Traffic Management Plans and Risk Management, maintaining a focus on the safety of you, your worksite and the general public. We have a fleet of well stocked, customised traffic control vehicles ready to service your specific site requirements.
Working with a large range of clients from Federal, State and Local Government to large, medium and small private enterprise, our experience within the traffic control industry enables us to meet the demands of our clients in an ever-changing industry and world.
We hold a certificate of registration with the Department of Transport and Main Roads Traffic Management Registration Scheme.
Jason has a background of 25 years experience in light vehicles, trucks and earthmoving equipment. He encourages high standards and is committed to the further development of safety and training of all workshop and field employees.
The Rock ‘N’ Road Bitumen workshop comprises of experienced, highly qualified staff - including three fitters, one boilermaker and two apprentices who service all of our equipment.
Also on hand is a service truck, fully fitted out to complete job repairs and maintenance on any job site.
All vehicles are maintained with expert knowledge, ensuring safety and performance are always at an optimum.
