PRE-CONFERENCE CERTIFICATION AND EARLY BIRD WORKSHOPS

Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC)CISEC, Inc. offers an inspector certification program to individuals who inspect, contract, design, or regulate construction activities. Theprogram provides inspectors with knowledge and the necessary skills to ensure compliance with erosion and sediment controls andpollution prevention requirements during construction. The Review Course is Sunday, July 28 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Monday,July 29 from 8 am to 12 pm. The Exam is Monday, July 29 at 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Note: Pre-registration with CISEC is required and there is a separate registration fee. Green Infrastructure and Strategic Planning Workshops Presented by Christy Williams and Sam Sakar, Tetra Tech, in association with EPA Region 6These workshops will be delivered as two 3.5-hour sessions. The first session will cover performance assessment of GI with a focus onthe potential to reduce flooding and improve stormwater quality using demonstration tools including, but not limited to, the EPA GIModeling Toolkit. A case-study for a local site appropriate for GI adoption will also be presented. The intended audience for this sessionincludes modelers, designers, planners, and public works professionals. The second session will cover programmatic stormwater strategic planning with a focus on reducing redundancies, improvingcompliance and achieving multiple benefits using an equitable and sustainable funding source. Through regional examples, methodswill be demonstrated to evaluate existing stormwater management programs. The intended audience for this session includesstormwater program managers and public works professionals. Construction General Permit (CGP) and How to Conduct Inspections of ConstructionSites WorkshopPresented by Rebecca Villalba, Texas Commission on Environmental QualityThis workshop will cover basic construction stormwater permitting requirements, regulations, enforcement and inspection techniques.Subjects to be discussed will include stormwater pollution prevention plans, construction site best management practices, inspectionforms, what to anticipate during an inspection, and some of the most common violations.

Industrial General Permit (MSGP) and How to Conduct Inspections of IndustrialSites WorkshopPresented by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and City of Denton (Course description forthcoming)This workshop will cover basic industrial stormwater permitting requirements, regulations, enforcement and inspection techniques.Subjects to be discussed will include benchmark monitoring, annual reports, industrial site best management practices, inspectionforms, what to anticipate during an inspection, and some of the most common violations. Jennifer Hildebrand, Environmental Compliance Group Manager, WSB(bio)

Katherine Hayhoe, Ph.D., Climate Science Center Director, Texas Tech University Katharine Hayhoe is an accomplished atmospheric scientist who studies climate change and why it matters to ushere and now. She is also a remarkable communicator who has received the American Geophysical Union’s climatecommunication prize, the Stephen Schneider Climate Communication award, and been named to a number of listsincluding Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, Foreign Policy’s 100 Leading Thinkers, and FORTUNEmagazine’s World’s Greatest Leaders. Katharine has served as lead author on the Second, Third, and FourthNational Climate Assessments. She also hosts and produces the PBS Digital Series, Global Weirding, and serveson advisory committees for a broad range of organizations including the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, theEarth Science Women’s Network, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Katharine iscurrently a professor and directs the Climate Science Center at Texas Tech University. She has a B.Sc. in Physicsfrom the University of Toronto and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Illinois.

Downtown Denton - The Square Moderator: Upper Trinity Water District (UTWD) Presented by: Lindsey White, CCA Landscape ArchitectsHickory Creek was a road upgrade that was part of the redevelopment of Denton's Downtown Historic City Center know as “The

Square”. The area has pervious pavement and a rain garden/bioretention system integrated into the overall landscape plan for the

road redevelopment. Personal Protection Equipment is required, such as closed toe shoes.

Stormwater Industrial Field Inspection * 45 participants maximum

Peterbilt Motors Moderator: TBD Presented by: Aaron Myers, Peterbilt MotorsThe Peterbilt trucking facility based in Denton, TX and manufactures on-highway, vocational and medium duty trucks.As a global

citizen, Peterbilt is determined to ensure it is an environmentally friendly company. Employees are committed to reducing the

environmental impact through innovative designs, new manufacturing and operational practices, and aggressive recycling and

waste reduction.Participants must agree to Peterbilt Visitor Guidelines:

Personal Protective Equipment: Hearing protection and protective eyewear (regular prescription glasses are not sufficient) are

required in all areas of the plant and are available in the front lobby. Safety shoes or protective covers are required when off the

main aisles. Closed toe shoes are required in all areas of the plant. No open toe shoe of any king. Visitors in all areas of the plant

are required to wear high visibility safety vests. No shorts. No flowing clothing.

Photography: Tour guides may arrange for photos to be taken in the Peterbilt Experience Area. No other photos on the property are

permitted.

Rayzor Ranch Town Center Moderator: City of Denton Presented by: Tom Galbraith, Dunaway and AssociatesRayzor Ranch Town Center is part of the 400-acre, mixed use development that includes retail, residential, office, hotel, medical and

entertainment uses in one cohesive, pedestrian-friendly urban village. The area has a sophisticated Treatment System for

stormwater including trash traps, parking islands, bioretention, a water quality pond and eventual pocket wetland.The Rayzor Ranch

development will be the largest super-regional retail development between Dallas and Oklahoma City. Personal Protection
