Term 4 Week 3 29th October 2018
Dear Parents,
What a busy week I feel we
have had – life certainly doesn’t
slow down and each week our
students are privileged to have
such a wide range of
experiences and learning
opportunities to enjoy.
Flower Show Presentation
Congratulations to our Junior
and Senior Choirs who
performed with confidence and
professionalism last Friday at
the Anglican Flower Show.
The students were well behaved
and sang beautifully. Well
done also to Amy Myers and
Brandy McGrath who
performed with their clarinets.
My sincere thanks to Ms Wild
who comer over from Tumut
for the day to lead our
performers. It was a very
successful presentation. Well
done everyone.
Fun in the Park
Thank you to Mrs Jackson,
Kelly and Michelle who
represented our school at Fun in
the Park. Together with some
very keen and enthusiastic
youngsters, they made over 60
peg dragonflies to add to the
fun of the community
afternoon. Thankyou again for
your commitment and effort to
provide an opportunity for
children from the community to
enjoy a special art activity.
Once again, Gundagai South
has made a positive
contribution to the success of
this initiative.
Visiting ACT junior Band Performance
The whole school was treated to
a wonderful performance given
by the ACT Junior Band when
they visited the school on
Wednesday. Almost seventy
students from Years 7 & 8 from
across all the Public High
Schools in Canberra, come
together each week to practice
as part of the ACT Instrumental
Music Program. All students
must audition for the band and
it requires a high level of
commitment to be included.
The students were at the
beginning of their regional tour
through southern NSW and
Victoria and our school is
particularly pleased to be
included in their tour program.
The band provides great
inspiration for our students,
offering them the opportunity to
see and hear what can be
achieved by students just like
them. Congratulations to
Makena Hourn who was
chosen to lead the band as they
performed one of their numbers.
Transition to School
Last Tuesday, four eager
students attended the first
Transition to school morning.
We are hoping that more
students will be attending our
next opportunity to be held next
Wednesday, 7th
November from 9.15 –
2.00pm, as this may not clash
with their preschool day.
The students had a great
morning at ‘big school’,
completing some literacy
activities, sharing stories and
enjoying some play based
learning activities.
Dance Lessons
The first of our term’s dance
lesson was held last Monday
with the students quickly
settling back into their moves to
the popular music provided.
Unfortunately, due to an earlier
commitment, the instructor will
be away today, however,
lessons will resume next
Monday. Gym lessons will also
commence next Monday as
Melissa has to complete an
exam today. Everyone will be
eaglery awaiting the start of
gym lessons as they are such
fun for everyone. The cost of
our gym program will be
covered by a grant from the
Commonwealth Sporting
Schools program.
Snake Tales Performance
Everyone is sure to enjoy the
Snake Tales performance this
Tuesday. Every four years, our
students enjoy this program,
which teaches our students
about the importance of keeping
safe in the outdoors by enjoying
its natural beauty and working
together with nature. They will
also learn about the importance
of conservation and the need to
be aware how to ensure the
survival of many of our reptiles
at risk in the community. There
is no cost for students to attend
this performance, as the school
will completely cover the costs.
K – 4 Wagga
Students from the K/1/2 & 3/4
classes will be attending the
performance of the “Big Bad
Wolf’ on Friday 2nd
November. The performance
will be held at the Civic theatre
in Wagga at 1.00pm
Students will be leaving school
by bus at 11.45am and returning
in time for afternoon buses. The
cost for students will be $10.00
each (the school is subsidising
the cost - tickets for the show
are $14.00 each and the bus will
be $10) Please return the
attached permission note and
money by Thursday. Thankyou
T20 Gala Cricket Day
Students in Years 3 – 6 will
travel to Stan Crowe Oval this
Thursday 1st November to
participate in the annual local
T20 Cricket Gala Day. The
students will be required to
wear their sports uniform and
joggers and they must have
their school hat. There will be
a bus leaving school at 9.15am
and the cost is $1.00 per child.
It will return in time for the
afternoon bus runs.
Students will need to take
plenty of bottled water and
their own recess and lunch on
the day, as there is no canteen
on the day. Please complete
the attached permission note
and return to school, together
with you $1.00 by Wednesday.
Thankyou
