HOW TO RECOGNIZE SEEDS OF SLOTH

Do you start projects and often find reasons not to finish them? Do you find reasons not to do things that you think would involve a lot of work? Are you a chronic procrastinator? When you can help someone do you go the other way? Do you find a reason to do spiritual things later? Do you believe that your efforts for daily prayer and Bible reading are futile? Do things that are valuable (marriage, friends, family) seem oppressive or meaningless? Do you find the work it takes to fix things not worth it? Do you feel like every day is too long and barely endurable? Do you devalue or feel hopeless about your life or the future? Are you regularly angry with yourself? Do important tasks get neglected as you do trivial things? Do you think there is no use in fighting sin?

Romans 12:6-8We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Romans 12:11-13Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

1 Corinthians 15:58Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
