SCREEN BASE CAMP DATESDelivered from December 2nd until December 20th in 2013 as a three-week intensive block, the camp covers eight units from a total of thirteen required for the complete Certificate IV in Screen and Media qualification.

Week 1 includes planning your short film andworkshops with industry professionals who will conduct training in script writing and how to get the best out of a camera.

This week is conducted at ELTHAM College.

INTRODUCTIONIn 2013 Screen Base Camp will be held on the Surf Coast near Lorne. Certificate IV in Screen and Media is a nationally recognised competency based qualification. The Screen course is delivered in two parts, Part 1 (Screen Base Camp) and Part 2 (Screen Extension). Students enrolled in Base Camp receive a Statement of Attainment for the units completed and also receive a 10% block credit towards their ATAR score.

VCE VET UNITS & ATAREnrolment in part 1 and 2 can occur in any order. Doing both courses can enable students to receive two 10% block credits towards their ATAR and the full Certificate IV in Screen and Media qualification. Block credits are only eligible where there is no subject duplication; this occurs in some VET subjects not VCE Media. If you are unsure about this speak to LifeWorks.

ARTICULATION & PATHWAYSStudents who complete the Screen courses can use these new skills to gain entry into the film, media, multimedia and television industries. Students who gain entry into further education or university courses may be able to apply for Credit Transfer as you will have achieved skills that other courses recognise and thus shorten your University or TAFE study time. All students undertake the full range of different crewing roles from operating multi camera set-ups to directing and production management. Week 3 includes training on the editing programme Premier back at ELTHAM in our editing lab. Students will be allocated an edit suite each and will be trained while editing their movie.
