FOREWORD

The listings of materials which follow have been prepared to assistteachers of Ukrainian as a second language. Grades 7 - 12. The list is

presented as suggestions; it is not prescriptive. Many other useful

titles may be employed as references as well. Teachers are remindedthat they are responsible to their employing school board for all

In view of the increasing quantity of resource materials availablefor learning Ukrainian, it becomes necessary to establish criteriafor selecting those materials which are useful. The followingquestions are suggested as a guide in establishing criteria for the

3. Are the grammatical structures and the vocabularyitems consistent with those of the core program?Do these reinforce the core program?

4. Is the manner of presentation interesting; i.e.

does it contain stimulating concepts, does it

avoid repetitive language?

5. Is the cultural content appropriate to theCanadian scene?

6. Are the materials readily available and is the costof these materials reasonable?
