RECALLING FURTHER Council Resolution C.42(XXI) regardirtg

the objectives of the Organization9 in particular the placing

of restraints upon th~ contnmin2tion of ths ssa9 land and air

or other simil2r injury by or fr0m ships and vessels and other

equipment operating in the marine environment9

NOTING the decision of the Maritime Safety Committee with

a view to implementing the foregoing Rosolutions9 to formulate

proposals for the prevention of pollution of the land9 sea and

air by ships9 vessels and other equipment operating in the

marine environment,

NOTING ALSO the report of the Secretary-General of the

United Nations, considersd by the United Nations Committee on

the Peaceful Uses of the Sea-Bed 2nd Ocean Floor b0yond the

Limits of National Jurisdiction (A/AC/138/13)~ concerning the

inter-sscrot,7'.riat meeting held in G--;neva (July 1969) 9 in which

the United Nations 9 HICO 9 UNi::SCO 9 -VifHO 9 WNO and the IAE:A

participatcd9 and the work of the Joint IMCO/lAO/UNbSCO/n10

Group of Bxperts on the Scientific Aspects of Marine Pollution

(GESAMP) as recorded in the report of its first session held

in London from 17--21 March 1969 (GLSALP I/11)1

NOTING FURTH~R the report of the United N2tions Committee

rcferrud to the activities of IMCO and suggested that the

international conventions of which it is the depositary be so

complem0nted as to take into account problems relating to:
