GROUTING SOLUTIONS
Prevents or reduces inflow into underground structures to stop erosion and structural instability.
Consolidation by grouting fills rock mass discontinuities. Reduces the compressibility of the soil matrix in construction applications.

Resins penetrate rocks and soil better than cements, due to their ability to flow further
into fissures, cracks and pores.
Cement based materials Injection with cement based materials is a standard practice with the benefits including relative ease of application and high modulus of elasticity. Minova offers a range of microfine cements for injection into micro-cracks or for deep sealing, when the injection of regular cements isn’t feasible. A characteristic of cement based grouts is their relatively slow reaction times resulting in a greater potential of wash out under certain ground water conditions.
Resin based technologiesResin based technologies offer higher penetration rates than cement-based materials. Due to their characteristics of high flexibility and adjustable setting times resins can seal, stabilise, or consolidate cracks and joints.
Resins can set instantly when in contact with groundwater or when pumping stops. Quick reaction speeds and high early strengths allow for extreme resistance to pressurised water washout while still being able to seal off inflows under demanding conditions. Resins offer greater ability to absorb energy (flexibility) and can be applied in both hot or near freezing temperatures.

cements is determined by the
expectation of the final result and

We are experts at designing the right solutions to your problems.
Minova resin based technologies were used to manage Iceland’s Ólafsfjörður and Siglufjördur tunnel projects. With water conditions of extreme thermal heat to near freezing, high pressure (30+ bar) and large volume flows (600–2500 l / min) the use of injection cements or basic resins was impossible. The right solution was Minova Resins. Polyurethane Resins (PUR) and Silicate Resins were successfully injected and technical support was provided by our experienced engineering and applications team to meet the challenging conditions.
A dam located in the Republic of
Karelia (Russia) eroded over time
and water leakage was observed
with a flow rate of about 50 LPM
resulting in wash out.
To stop the high-pressure wash out a combination of Minova injection resins plus cement grouts were injected into the same borehole one after the other. Once this resin / cement combination successfully countered the wash out a second resin, with a longer reaction time, was injected to fill the remaining fissures. A pure cement suspension was injected to stop remaining leakage where suitable.

sealing in roadside packs and voids.
These cements decay and break due
to aggressive underground conditions.

Since 1984, striving to simplify the grouting process, Minova developed an unsurpassed idea and the resulting encapsulated grouts, Lokset® and Capcem®. Lokset is the innovative resin based grouting capsule. Millions of Lokset capsules have been sold, and continue to be installed to secure bolts around the world for safety and stability.
Minova Capcem is a cement capsule also designed for easy handling in bolting applications. Both Lokset and Capcem are now standard industry practice.
Special cementitious grouts and resins are used for two primary functions – load transfer and corrosion protection of the reinforcement element.
Capsule resins and cements in the Lokset range have proven to be more flexible and simpler to use in bolting applications.
Minova products help address various application conditions – temperature,
strength, deformation and speed to set. Installation of Lokset capsules, manually or by automatic bolting machines, are used in coal mining, hard rock mining, tunnelling and geotechnical applications. Because all application conditions are not the same, encapsulated resins may not be suitable. For example, fractured strata with severe fissures and cracks, a pumped grout solution will provide improved encapsulation of the bolt within the hole as well as consolidation of the surrounding rock and soil.

Pumpable cement groutsOur cement grouting solutions for rock bolting applications range from standard pumpable grouts to high performance rapid setting high strength grouts.
This product range has grown into a diversified and comprehensive group of products for bolting applications in coal mining, hard rock mining, tunnelling and civil construction projects.
In addition to anchoring grouts, this product range may be used for general strata injection and consolidation.
Our cement anchoring products include materials suitable for all forms of manual and mechanized bolt grouting
technologies. Our products are supplied pre-blended and pre-packaged requiring only the addition of water in order to produce high quality grouts.
All grouts are formulated with an expansion compensation system and are resistant to shrinkage.
Pumpable resinsThe development by Minova of fast curing two component silicate resins for high strength bonding enables almost instantaneous loading of bolts and cables rather than the traditional 24-hour period that cementitious grouting systems require.
Typical applications include grouting of cable bolts, solid steel/GFRP bolts, the Minova Ultra SDA® systems or our broader range of anchoring products.
Our pumpable resins, when used in conjunction with our Minova Ultra SDA systems, are critical components of the Single-Step Bolting System™.

SEALING OF MINES, GAS (GLOBAL)Coal mines are susceptible to quantities of methane that leak into the atmosphere halting mining operations due to safety concerns. To prevent this danger seals and stoppings can be made, repaired or replaced with Minova phenolic resin products.

SEALING OF TUNNELS, WATER (TURKEY)SEALING OF TUNNELS, WATER (TURKEY)Preserving the integrity of drinking water is the highest priority for any city. Minova participated in ensuring the integrity of the drinking water for the city of Istanbul. The TBM construction required a high performing post-grouting procedure to seal off water inflow between concrete elements. The challenge was to create a durable seal against the in rush of salt water between the concrete elements and the surrounding rock behind the TBM. Specialised drilling was deployed and structural plates were installed and sealed using a double injection of our polyurethane resin creating an immediate long-term seal against leaks.

SEALING OF DAMS, WATER (RUSSIA)SEALING OF DAMS, WATER (RUSSIA)Cracks and leaks were observed on a hydro power plant dam in Russia. The water with a constant temperature of 4°C required sealing. Cement was not an option due to the hydraulic pressures and low temperatures. The sealing work was further complicated due to a small diameter access shaft.
Specialised drilling for decompression was deployed. Structural plates were installed and sealed using a double injection of Minova polyurethane resin creating a long-term immediate seal against leaks.
