The Severn dining room is getting a fresh new look. Updated window coverings, lighting, and wall murals will finish off the scene to encourage a more calm and relaxing dining experience. – The picture there is from Simcoe Manor – please remove it. I don’t have one to replace it as the project is not quite finished.

A Message from Jane Sinclair, GM, Health & Emergency Services
We hope everyone is keeping warm and enjoying this beautiful winter season. We are excited to bring you recent updates about what’s happening in your home and residence.
We are preparing for our next Quality based Accreditation and surveyor visits in November 2020. Accreditation is an ongoing process of assessing health and social services organizations against standards of excellence to identify our strengths and areas that we can continue to
improve. It involves all members of our organization, from management to frontline staff, residents and families as well as community partners. This process allows us to ensure we are fully utilizing our resources, increasing efficiency, enhancing quality and safety, and reducing risk. As in previous accreditation years, we look forward to maintaining Exemplary Standing. Stay tuned for more updates.
For several years now, Simcoe Manor has had agreements in place to provide Peritoneal Dialysis to our residents. Trillium Manor has successfully entered into this same partnership more recently. This service has
been provided in partnership with Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, the Ontario Renal Network, Cancer Care Ontario and now with Ontario Health with regards to the recent changes within the provincial health care system. These partnerships have been very successful in allowing the residents living in long-term care homes to receive treatment within their home rather than experiencing the disruption and costs associated with receiving hemodialysis treatments at the regional dialysis centre.
Please enjoy this edition of the Resident and Family Newsletter and we look forward to bringing you more updates soon!

Congratulations to Annette Howard and Marilyn Mark on their retirements.
“I would tell anyone, and do tell people, that I learn and grow from volunteering at Trillium. It’s a rewarding experience when one of the residents, who seems preoccupied or can’t hear, looks up at me and smiles. How can you not feel blessed by that? Each time I leave for Trillium my husband says to me to go and change someone’s life today. If I can do that just a little bit, it makes me happy.”- A Happy Volunteer

We are currently working with our public health to keep informed of the Coronavirus as cases appear in Ontario. We ask that anyone who may have travelled or has been in contact with someone who travelled to the affected areas please speak with the registered nurse on duty before visiting. For general infection control, we encourage you not to visit if you are experiencing a new or worsening cough, runny or congested nose, fever, chills and malaise or diarrhea and vomiting. Hand washing is key in preventing the spread of infection.
