The21stExhibitionofUndergraduateResearchandCreativeAchievement(EURēCA)tookplaceApril17-21,2017inHodgesLibrary.

Studentsfromacrosstheuniversityenteredtheirundergraduateresearch,seniordesignprojects,clinicalprojects,andcreativeachievementsforjudging.Over450studentspresented333projects.99receivedrecognitionattheEURēCAAwardsnight.

RubeGoldbergWinnerTheTeamofE-MCHammer,UTSeniorsSuKangandNatalieBogoda,wonthisyear'scampuswideRubeGoldbergChallenge.

CinemaStudentFindsWayto‘MakeaRealImpact’CarolineKnight,agraduatingseniorincinemastudies,isanaward-winningfilmmakerwhoselatestprojectisnowbeingshownatfilmfestivalsaroundthecountry.Knightreceivedagranttoproduce"StillSophie,"adocumentaryaboutayoungwomanwhosustainedabrain

injurythatleftherunabletospeakbutstillabletosing.

NursingStudentWantstoHelpKidsUnderstandAsthmaAdayaTroyer,aseniorinnursingatUT,wasonlytwowhenshewasdiagnosedwithasthma.Now,asanundergraduateresearcher,she’stryingtohelpyoungchildrenwithasthmaunderstandandmanagetheircondition.TroyerhopestodevelopeducationalmaterialsforaniPadapptargetedtochildrenwhocan'tyetreadorwrite.

SeniorSaysResearch‘SetMeApart’WhenApplyingforGradSchoolLoraDoherty,aseniorintherapeuticrecreation,hasbeenresearchinghowcampscanhelpchildreninmilitaryfamiliescopewithaparent’sdeployment.Theresearchnotonlydeepenedherunderstandingofcourseworkbutalsogaveheraleguponotherapplicantswhenapplyingtograduateschool.

MusicStudentFindsUniqueTuneinGrindcoreResearchPaulRoyse,aseniorinmusictheoryandpianoperformance,gotinterestedinresearchduringamusictheoryclassanalyzingrockmusic.Hisfocus:grindcore,agenreofmusicfusingaspectsofheavymetalandhardcorepunkthatoriginatedinthemid-1980sbuthasbeenvirtuallyabsentinmusicresearchliterature.

StudentsResearchRettSyndrometoRaiseAwareness,ImprovePatientCareThreeundergraduatestudentsatUTareresearchingRettsyndrome,aprogressiveneurologicaldisorderthatafflictsonein10,000females.

Theywanttoraiseawarenessaboutthedisorderandhopetheirdiscoveriestranslateintoimprovedcareforpatients.
