This is a medium establishing shot of the artist. The establishing shot clearly tells the audience that they are folk artist because of their instrument, costumes and background. They are all holding instruments such as the guitar and ukulele which suggests to the audience that they are folk artist as these are common instruments for folk music..All three of the artists are wearing black. This could be implying that they will be singing a sad, slow, possibly depressing song, because the colour black usually signifies something bad.Furthermore their facial expressions tells us that they are unhappy which could mean that they do not want to go to wherever they are going or that something bad has happened. Also they have a naturist background behind them of grass and the sky. This is a common background for folk music as folk artist tend to go for a natural setting.

This is a low angle medium shot. In this image we can see a cross and a child looking up to the cross with their hands together. This could be suggesting that the setting is a religious place and could be showing us that the child is praying. Also this image fits well with Roland Barthes theory of the symbolic code as the cross may be symbolising that this is a Christian holy place, possibly a church. Furthermore could be Explained using Ferdinand Saussure's theory of semiotics as it is signify that they are Christian that the people who live here value their religion and it is important to them.

This is a medium shot of the artist lip singing . This image fits well with Goodwin's theory of lyric and visuals. “the littlest birds, play the prettiest songs” . This could be suggesting that the poorest people are the nicest people, because the music video shows us that they are singing about poor people (Goodwin's theory of music and visuals, amplifying). Furthermore this image fits well with the common genre characteristics of folk music . For example she is in a natural setting. Wearing casual clothes. This is often done by folk artist.

This is a low angle shot of an house. The director has shown us this to signify that this is a more developed area than the other locations shown. We know this because in this image the area is clean and they have balconies whereas the other setting didn’t. The director has purposely done this to clearly signify to the audience that this location is much wealthier. This image also suggests that the person looking up at it is of a lower status. This is why the director has used a low angle shot. The image could also be suggesting that the person looking up at the house feels that they are of a lower status and do not deserve to be in this area.

Low angle shot of the artist could be implying that someone looks up to the artist and that she has a higher status then the person looking up at her.Furthermore the director has taken this shot behind the artist which also signifies that the artist has a higher status and is possibly from a higher class. This shot fits well with Ferdinand Saussure's theory of signifiers and signified.

This is a high angle shot of young child in a vest. The vest could be suggesting that it is a hot day. Also the high angle shot signifies that the child is of a lower status than the person who is looking down at him.Furthermore we can see rubbish behind the child this implies that he is in a poor place and is not wealthy, possibly from a less economically developed area.

This is a close up side shot of one of the

artist. From the facial expressions of the

artist we are able to realise that she is

not happy as she is not smiling. In

addition this fit well with Goodwin's

theory of visual style, record companies

often demand close-ups of the artist such

as this one in order to develop a motif

which will recur across their work.

In this image we are shown a group of

men with instruments in a poor area

on the streets. I believe that this

images work best with Roland Barthes

theory of the enigma code, because

we are shown a group of men with

instruments but are not clearly told

what it means. This image could

possibly be suggesting that this group

of men play music and hope to earn

money like this and find a better way

of living.
