We will increase the range, quality and impact of our research, leading the research agenda in an increasing number of areas. Research driven excellence will inform all aspects of our academic activity.

Research: We will1. Invest in staff, research facilities and infrastructure to build the research
strengths of the University2. Use our strengths in research to drive excellence across the whole range
of the University’s activities, including teaching, the student experience and innovation for business and the public sector
3. Promote interdisciplinary research where this adds to the University’s reputation or provides new developmental activities
4. Engage in research collaborations that enhance the University’s reputation and sustainability

in the research Excellence Framework (REF)6. Develop a high quality research environment with enhanced training,

We will use the knowledge we create to enable business and organisations to innovate, strengthening our engagement and delivering added value through knowledge transfer activity
