Protein Skum 12

Protein skumvæske består af animalske (f.eks. slagterioverskud) og vegetabilske (f.eks. sojabønneolie) æggehvidestoffer.

Skumvæsken er brunsort og ildelugtende. Det fremstillede skum er stift med høj klæbeevne og meget varmebestandig.

Protein skumvæske kan kun anvendes til fremstilling af tungt skum og anvendes med en skumvæskeprocent på 6 %.

Filmdannende flouroproteinskumvæske er som proteinskumvæske, men tilsat filmdannende stoffer.

Væsken har samme kendetegn, men danner en film over brændstofoverfladen og slår derfor hurtigere branden ned.

Syntetisk Skumvæske14

Syntetisk skumvæske består hovedsageligt af detergenter (opløsningsmidler, sæber), som kendes fra opvaskemidler og shampoo.

Syntetisk skumvæske anvendes med en skumvæskeprocent på 2 - 3 %. Det bruges generelt til slukning af væskebrande.

Filmdannende syntetisk skumvæske (Aqua Film Forming Foam, AFFF)

Filmdannende syntetisk skumvæske er som syntetisk skumvæske, men tilsat filmdannende stoffer og skummer mindre.

Væsken anvendes med en skumvæskeprocent på 2 - 3 %. Det er velegnet mod væskebrande med høj temperatur og anvendes især af

lufthavnsberedskaber. Two PFAS compounds, perfluorooctane acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid

(PFOS), may be present in firefighting aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) solutions.

Alkoholresistent filmdannende syntetisk skumvæske (Aqua Film Forming Foam – Alcohol Resistant, AFFF-AR)

Alkoholresistent filmdannende syntetisk skumvæske er som syntetisk skumvæske, men tilsat filmdannende stoffer og en polymerdannende gel.

Skumvæsken virker ved at der dannes et geltæppe oven på væsken og et skumlag oven på geltæppet. Geltæppet beskytter skumlaget mod nedbrydning. Hvis geltæppet brydes, løber skumlaget ned, omdannes til gel og tætner hullet.

Skumvæskeprocenten for slukning af olieprodukter er 3 % og for vandopløselige produkter 6 %

Klasse A skum 17

Klasse A skum er et slukningsmiddel til slukning af almindelige bygningsbrande og oplag af faste materialer. Klasse A skum består som hovedregel af 99 % vand og 1 % skumvæske. Den forholdsvise

lille skumvæskemængde har især til formål at øge vandets slukningseffekt. Effekten består i, at klasse A skum øger muligheden for at absorbere varmeenergi fra

branden ved at omdanne vandmolekyler til damp. Vandets evne til at absorbere varmen ændres ikke ved tilsætning af skumvæsken, men

boblerne, som dannes af skumvæsken, øger den varmeabsorberende overflade. Herved øges dannelsen af vanddamp, og vandets slukningsevne forbedres. Slukningsmidlets afspændingseffekt medvirker endvidere til, at vandet lettere trænger ind i det brændende materiale.

(Klasse A skum er betydelig mere miljøvenlig end de hidtil kendte skumtyper, og brugen af det til slukning af skov- og naturbrande har vist, at der er en meget lille negativ effekt på planter og andre vækster jf. Beredskabsstyrelsen)

PFAS og PFOA 22

Udfordringer: Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are

a large family of man-made chemical compounds found in a wide range of consumer products such as nonstick products, polishes, waxes, paints and cleaning products. Two PFAS compounds, perfluorooctane acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), may be present in firefighting aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) solutions.

Certain PFAS can accumulate and stay in the human body for long periods of time. Long-term exposure to PFAS/PFOA/PFOS, in high concentrations, causes a buildup in the body. This buildup may have negative health effects like a risk of thyroid disease and testicular, kidney and bladder cancers.

PFAS og PFOA 23

Protection against exposure PFAS/PFOA/PFOS may be orally ingested,

absorbed through the skin or inhaled through exposure in the atmosphere. Personnel at departments that use firefighting AFFFs with PFAS/PFOA/PFOS should practice the following controls to stay safe from exposure:

Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) whenever handling AFFF.

Properly remove and bag contaminated PPE prior to transporting.

Use cleaning wipes on your face, neck and hands immediately after exposure.

Clean contaminated PPE and SCBA before its next use.

Shower within one hour of returning to the station or home.
