at $300) contains items needed to do six science stations with students to learn about energy. The following letter was received from a former student:

Unfortunately, at 30 years old with two children my life took an unexpected turn, and I found myself in need of assistance. Help came in the form of SPOKES through the DHHR family assistance program. I honestly could not see at that time how this was going to be helpful in my life. I was already working on a degree in early childhood education. What could this class possibly teach me that I did not already know? I was very nervous about this new experience. I did not know what to expect or how I would be treated. I was pleasantly surprised to find a welcoming environment when I stepped into the SPOKES classroom. The instructor was there to help, and she let me know that immediately. I would come to find out that this class would be very valuable to my future. The certifications that were offered in this program helped me find a great job in Homestead, FL. I am now an office manager at a check cashing business. I am well qualified in my position because I received valuable training in Office 2013 programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. I also completed computer essentials and IC3 training. SPOKES offered me so many valuable training opportunities to help me get job ready including help from a career development

consultant who taught me important skills, including how to create a proper resume. I am now an important part of the company I work for, and I can honestly say I would not be qualified without the training and certifications I received through the SPOKES program.

I would just like to finish by expressing my sincere gratitude to Shelia Radford, James Elmore, and Tiffanie Bishop for helping me get back on the path toward being independent and giving me confidence in my ability to be a valuable employee. There are no words strong enough to express how thankful I am. Thank you, Brandy Holcomb Greenbrier SPOKES Region 1 Workforce Partners meeting Region 1 Workforce partners are in the process of organizing an Information Fair tentatively scheduled for June 06, 2016 at the Ronceverte Work Force building as a means of showcasing all the agencies, organizations and groups each of us use as resources for our individual programs. Some of the gencies represented at the meeting included Work Force, Div. Of Rehabilitation Services, Disabled Vets, Connections, and Region 1. Plans were made to Highlight success stories facilitated by the partners collaboration and to also focus on one partner each month with information made available for the public in the Commons/reception area. SPOKES utilizes many of the same resources other programs and agencies do but our needs are a little different so we have a larger pool including civic, community and religious organizations, up to and including the local fire department which provides items during the holidays for our students. Interestingly enough, many of the partners either did not know the SPOKES mission, or were badly mistaken about it. It was a very informational meeting all around.

Dressing on a Budget Outing Goodwill is a short walk from our classroom which makes it convenient for shopping outings for those in need of interview appropriate clothing. One student brought interview clothes to class to change into for a pending interview which proved to be a very valuable teachable moment. Not only did it provide us with a very valid need to take the outing to Goodwill, it was also a quick lesson in how to mend and press, neither of which as it happened was a skill most of the students possessed. At the end of the day we sent off an appropriately dressed student for an interview and each student learned the meaning of appropriately dressed; that it means more than a pair of black pants with a sort of dressy blouse and the hem of their pants does matter. The End

Meeting of all RESA Graduation 20/20 RS3s

Graduation 20/20 RS3s We met at RESA 7 to discuss our work and share ideas. The information and materials shared with one another was helpful to all of us. I used some of the information learned to create a document to be shared with my Graduation 20/20 Leadership Teams regarding strategies and incentive programs for their at-risk students. Many of the schools have found these suggestions helpful and are eagerly incorporating them into their action plans.

computers with Windows 10 and Office 2016. We have also been making sure that the new test software is ready on all the test devices.

Ryan Blankenship McDowell County I have been just doing random little jobs that people need. The most notable of which are replacing two Smart tvs on warranty and one smart projector that was new.

Vince Estepp McDowell County Work orders and projects include imaging laptops, and setting up the new Smart TV’s for classrooms after their installation. Fulfilling new Smart TV warranties which included dismounting, repackaging and coordinating all the shipping arrangements for a 226 lb. TV . Install specialized testing software for specific classrooms where required. Delivery of new iPads to required schools. Installing drops for the BOE. Installing OS’s on laptops. Participate in annual refresher data sensitivity course for testing. Install Lil’ Tykes desktop station for Head Start. Install new server for Vo-Tech with all applicable roles and services and completed server-hardening. Provided technical support for bus garage in copying accident videos for retention. Create master images for all models at vo-tech school so that the technology class students may begin cloning training. Provide assistance for inventorying “Tool For Schools” technology that is being received in shipping (ongoing).

Kenneth Lester Monroe County VGO has been setup, tested and placed into service. Our Windows 10 image has been deployed and seems to be well received. Open or In-Progress trouble tickets stand at 12. The State Fire Marshal noted some IT infrastructure wiring deficiencies during his March visit. We are currently building a Windows 10 image for the JMHS 102 lab and

preparing to setup printers for our ChomeBook one-to-one rollout.

William Meador Raleigh County I have performed repair on network issues, zero clients, operating system repair, iPads, classroom computers, and computer labs in addition to a wide range of day to day IT work via on-demand requests and work orders.

Walter Newcomb McDowell County I have completed projects ranging from E-Rate 470 submissions to Infrastructure upgrades. I have also been working with Frontier and the WVNET Engineers in upgrading all of the McDowell facility's WAN-side bandwidth from 100Mb to 200Mb at the Elementary School and 500Mb at the high schools. I am currently working with the McDowell County CTC Seniors in an Inter-Campus infrastructure OJT project. That project is allowing those students the opportunity to get hands-on real world experience and insight.

Lucy Pack Mercer County Been working on gear up laptops at MHS they were bought last year and had never had the county image put on them. The school was using them every day so I went down and got 5 at a time to bring to the tech office and have them imaged then return them. Also the media center has some NComputing devices that kept having connection issues after some research I downloaded the newest vServer software, removed the older version and installed the new then connected each device back to the vServer.

Nathanial Perry Raleigh County I have seen general duties such as iPad maintenance, equipment installation and repair, etc. To date there have not been any special assignments performed. The general nature of calls this month did allow for me to participate in a technical support call with iBoss and some advanced learning in AirWatch. The technical call with iBoss was in response to an issue discovered at

Page 32: RESA-I STATUS REPORTresa1.k12.wv.us/.../April2016/9._MARCH_STATUS_REPORT.pdfRESA-I STATUS REPORT PROGRAM: Adult Education & Spokes DATE: March 31, 2016 STAFF: Shawn Cook, Director,

Mabscott Elementary. Partnering with iBoss and Mr. Webb we were able to discover a setting within the server that needed to be enabled to forward proxy logins to the main server. I also partnered with Mr. Webb to address a need for several applications to be pushed to certain grade levels at a school. After some trial and error within the platform we were able to successfully isolate the group, build a distribution, and push apps successfully.

Joshua Prudich Mercer County I Have replaced multiple projector bulbs as well as bad projectors. I have installed new labs in 2 schools and delivered transformer books. I have removed viruses and malware from many machines. I have diagnosed issues with projector as well as interactive whiteboards. I have replaced bad power supplies and mother boards. I have imaged multiple laptops and desktops.

Justin Prudich Mercer County Installing new transformer books and several schools and also updating the computer labs. We moved the computer lab machines into the classrooms while upgrading the memory and reloading with Windows 8.1. I have been taking on more of the smartboard issues in my schools as the smartboard tech is now focusing more on the everyday things in a set of schools. I continue my routine work of repairing and maintaining the classroom, lab, and teacher laptops.

Aaron Reed Mercer County VMware repairs have been localized to Pikeview Middle School. Troubleshooting the system at PVMS revealed 2 minutes to connect to a desktop at the PVMS datacenter, versus 20 seconds to connect to a desktop at the Board Office datacenter. For student assessments, we are temporarily changing PVMS terminals to use the Board Office datacenter until further troubleshooting can be performed at PVMS. Ceres school has been

mostly reimaged, and I will be upgrading their server to Windows Server 2012 R2 soon. I have also been prepping old servers for reuse by installing Server 2012 R2 and marking them with their hardware specifications. After Ceres is finished, the next school to be reimaged will be Princeton Primary School.

Daniel Via Raleigh County I have updated approximately 150 laptops in mobile labs to be ready for the upcoming test sessions. I created a OneDrive for Business sync client installer for Mac to be distributed. I repaired and brought systems back up at Fairdale Elementary after a power brown out destroyed power supplies in the secretary’s workstation and the intercom. The principal at Sophia Elementary’s workstation was reimaged and restored. Within my region, iPads were also updated and ensured that they have the latest version of the testing browser.

Aiden Vrenna Raleigh County I've continued to be involved in various efforts to shore up technology required for standardized testing. There were a few outliers who were still running iOS 8x, and those have been updated. There are some who are properly enrolled in MDM but somehow didn't correctly receive the Asynchronous Single App Mode policy. For those I've enabled Guided Access Mode and re-instructed teachers on that process. Recently I also discovered that I am able to re-push MDM profiles via AirWatch, so I've begun trying to correct profiles where required. Stratton experienced a network failure where I determined the DHCP service had stopped running on the domain controller. Restarting just the service resolved the problem. The same happened at Hollywood earlier this year and other technicians told me that's common. One made a script that periodically

restarts DHCP, and I'm considering implementing that. I've reconfigured lots of Apple TVs and printers. Removed lots of broken headphones from iPad audio ports. Warrantied two MBPs, one with yet another HDD failure, one wild system board failure that emitted static on screen and through the speakers when turned on. Replaced a few screens. Screen breaks are down though.

John Watson Mercer County March has been filled with preparations for the upcoming testing window. I have set up MAC address filtering at most of the schools in Mercer County to insure the wireless network is available for testing devices. We have conducted network tests, logon tests, and setup sample test classes in both physical and virtual environments to assess our readiness for testing. This has identified several areas that need our attention prior to the start of testing, including issues with one of our VM datacenters. Repairs and support have rounded out the month.

Joel Weiss Mercer County I assisted in replacing classroom computers at Ceres Elementary. I assisted with installing 26 new desktops at Glenwood School. I helped an outside contractor who installed an intercom system at Sun Valley Elementary. I assisted in the replacement of all classroom computers at Melrose Elementary School.
