Chair’s overview of the past year:
This has been a busy year for the Committee with each meeting averaging at least five applications. All meetings have been quorate and we continue to review a full quota of wide ranging projects, reflecting the large number of flagging held by the Committee and experience of its members. I am pleased to report that all applications were reviewed within 60 days and that the average time to a final decision was 30 days which reflects the hard work and commitment shown by Committee members. As a consequence of the large number of full applications reviewed, the number of studies reviewed under the proportionate review system has been relatively low. The Committee itself has seen several changes in membership this year with the resignation of the Chair Carolyn Read. Dr Lydia Drumright, who transferred to the Committee in September, is the new Chair. We also welcomed Dr Adam McGeoch and Dr Mary-Beth Sherwood to the Committee. I would like take this opportunity to thank Jessica Parfrement and Georgia Copeland at the Nottingham REC office for all their efforts over the past year and welcome the new coordinator’s for this committee. Finally, I would like to thank all the Committee members for their dedication, help and advice during what, I know, has been a very busy year for everyone.
