REQUEST TO APPROVE PURCHASE OF LAERDAL SIM MAN MANIKIN

Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of the purchase of a Laerdal Medical Corporation SimMan manikin and maintenance agreement. The total purchase price, tax included, is $96,323.75. Summary: Nursing programs nationwide utilize programmable manikins to enhance educational opportunities for students. The College has selected Laerdal SimMan manikins due to their breadth of instructional use, superior lifespan and onsite maintenance. Alternative options that have been purchased in the past have quickly deteriorated and required remote maintenance. The SimMan is a critical component in preparing nursing students for clinical rotations involving live patients. The funds to purchase the Laerdal SimMan are earmarked in the 2015-2016 capital budget. The purchase price of $96,323.75 includes applicable taxes and all hardware and software needed to program and run the simulator.
