COMPANY PROFILE
Lobby Area
The pearl of boracay Landholdings Corporation was
established and registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commission in 1996. It manages pearl of the pacific beach
resort. The resort opened its doors to timeshare known as
pearl pacific world of leisure in august 2000. This was
established in order to give the value clients of pearl of the
pacific the privileged of being able to enjoy their vacation
here and abroad as V.I.P.s in the resort of their dreams
around the world. It would give them a chance to live life
and enjoy it to the fullest.
People who have visited Boracay Island know that it is really
one of the best beaches in the world. Powdery white sand,
crystalline blue water and tall coconut trees make you relive
the uncivilized days.
Pearl’s mission is to give the best quality vacation in the
most beautiful place on earth for its client. We hope to be
able to preserve boracay’s pristine beauty through our eye
catching yet humble abode which is the pearl. There is no
reason why we must reinvent nature. We must be able to
preserve it and cherish it. The pearl also however does not
compromise the luxury and comfort of its clients.
Mr. Greg Sanson, Founder & president of the pearl of the
pacific will be developing other areas in the resort with
more themes and concepts. As a dreamer he believes
vacation dream can now be realized at the pearl of the
pacific.
The pacific world of leisure is initially selling time share unit.
This unit located at the hillside of the resort commanding a
magnificent view of the sea and the hills, it is in a building
(3) storey high. The pearl of the boracay landholdings,
Mother Company of the resort and time share company has
as total around 20 hectares in the island, which is planned
to be developed
The pearl of the pacific was conceptualized and developed
by Mr. Greg Sanson, president of the pearl of the boracay
landholding Inc. the designer, Buji Layog, known for his
Filipino architectural ingenuity has given a lot of luxury and
elegance to it. The lobby is truly most impressive with its
old Filipino carved stone flooring quarried from the
mountains of the Visayas. Pillars which serve to support the
native thatched “cogon” roof and pristine beach give the
Princesa Rita Restaurant and ambiance of grandeur perfect
rendezvous to in. the resort as been the most popular for
big gatherings such as weddings, cultural shows, sport
events, fashion shows, parties and conventions. The pearl of
the pacific as well acclaimed for this. A combination of Asian
and continental dishes are served in the various food outlet,
this sumptuous dishes could be also served in your room,
where you could also request for a butter to serve you like a
king
MY LIFE AT PEARL OF THE PACIFIC DURINGMY ON THE JOB TRAINING (OJT)
FOOD & BEVERAGE DEPARTMENT
March 18 when I started my on the job training (ojt) at pearl
of the pacific, on the said date I was assigned at food and
beverage section but before we go to our specific job as a
waiter / waitress one of the staff orient us about the
standard procedure of table setting and also the Mish &
Place, after we are all familiar about the dining place he
stroll us around the pearl of the pacific.
On my second day of my duty it was started a busy start on
me because that time is the fixed season because it is a
holly week.
On the next day it was the busy day until the end of holly
week which is super high season,
On the following day of my duty I served one of our guests,
but there is a rude thing happened, that the bottled water I
about to served, it was fall down on the table directly to the
guest, But I’m just lucky enough that the guest it is in good
mood and he just finished his meal before that happened.
Our dining supervisor told me that next time when I served
a bottled water I should put it in lying position in a serving
tray so that it will not fall again.
To be assigned at dining area is enjoyable experience
because you will expose and encounter different people and
you can gain knowledge but you could not without
experiencing with your self.
April 8, 2008 when I end up in dining area and I proceed to
housekeeping department.

The Deluxe room Poolside
Our spacious standard and deluxe rooms will more than
meet one’s expectation. Designed to fit the needs of various
types of tourist, they are compliments to boracay’s
authentically tropical atmosphere.
Deluxe Room Hillside
Its is equipped with private bathroom, air conditioning,
television, cable, local & international direct dialing
telephone services and it has a mini bar inside.
On my first day in house keeping department I was assigned
at deluxe poolside rooms, and it has 16 rooms. Sir Neil and
Sir Joseph teach me how to make up what is the correct
procedure of cleaning the room after 1 day of supervising
how I worked they leave me their trust.
The pool side rooms have much guest check in compare to
other Hillside and Maharlika, for a first timer like me for this
job is quite hard.
After 1 week I was assigned to Maharlika room it has 9
rooms. Maharlika room is easy to be cleaned because small
number of rooms to be cleaned.
After another week again I was shuffled at hillside To be
assigned in hillside is the most awful job I ever had in pearl
of the pacific because it is in top of the hill.
In my last four days I ask my supervisor to be assigned at
night shift and he assigned me at the linen area this was the
easiest job. My work is answering the incoming calls,
pressing the laundry.
April 21 it was my last day, after a month of being an ojt on
pearl of the pacific finally I’ve done. Being one of the ojt in
pearl of the pacific is a great experience and contribute a lot
for my well being.
Among the enjoyable and most unforgettable experiences
in my on-the-job training at Pearl of the Pacific was the fact
that I met a lot of elite people.
THIS WAS TAKEN DURING MY MAKE UP ROOM
OBSERVATIONS
Working in the Housekeeping Department & Dining Area at
Pearl of the Pacific Hotel was indeed an enriching experience
for me. The thing I enjoy most working in this business is that
the days are never the same. Every day presents a new
challenge, a new set of guests to cater to and a lot of new
people to meet.
As a Housekeeping & Waitress Personnel, I have to
related really well to people, not only to the guest of the hotel
but also with the other hotel staff. One has to be level-headed
because of all the different people you come in contact with
every day.
Because of the required duties and responsibility of
Housekeeping & Waitress personnel, he must be service and
safety oriented. He must also possess a sense of awareness,
timelines, urgency, humor, and common sense. Moreover,
certain personal qualities are required of Housekeeping &
Waitress workers include a polite manner, honesty, reliability,
efficiency and a smart appearance. Good communications skills
are essential, as it is a job for people who enjoy meeting and
helping others. Moreover, it is expected that they respond to
Guest Service Requests in a positive and timely manner. They
must also demonstrate and promote a strong commitment to
providing the best possible experience for the guests and
fellow associates and to follow dress and grooming standards
as well as maintain a courteous and friendly attitude.
RECOMMENDATION
Based on the experience gained and the exposure experienced as a
practicum student at Pearl of the Pacific, it is recommended that more training
is needed for the students especially in the areas of active listening, speaking,
service orientation, social perceptiveness and critical thinking. These are the
skills most needed in the food and hospitality industry.
Being a part of the hotel industry means being part of team who work
together for a common goal that is to give the best service that would meet the
standards the customer thus ensuring consumer satisfaction.
Indeed, my experience at Pearl of the Pacific is one learning experience of
fun and enjoyment coupled with a lot of enriching lessons which I know will help
me when I start my career in the hotel industry later on.
CONCLUSION
I conclude that Undergoing practicum training at the Pearl of the Pacific has
exposed me to a lot of actual job situations. It has helped me meet new people,
become sensitive to their needs, develop critical thinking and quick decision
making attributes, which are traits and abilities which are necessary to the
profession I have chosen to pursue.
I also had learned to develop personal qualities are required including, a
polite manner, honesty, reliability, efficiency and a smart appearance. Moreover,
I have also learned to enhance good communications skills since this is essential
to the job, jobs in the hotel industry is intended for people who love and enjoy
meeting and helping others.
The exposure I have obtained has enabled me to gain more self confidence
in meeting people and in taking on responsibility. It also has enhanced my skills
in dealing and associating with people and in working as a team for a common
goal.
WEAKNESSES
The hillside room is quite hard in term of accessibility in the
guest because it based on the top of the mountain and the
room rate is much expensive to an ordinary individual .They
also not using the proper hygiene in the kitchen because of
their utensils are not properly sanitized. The staff are not
cooperate with each other. Going along pearl of the Pacific is
hard because of the distance that could stop for other to go in
boracay.
STRONGEST
The Pearl of the Pacific is an island pioneer resort. Featuring a
beachfront restaurant, specializing in seafood grills, and a full
ocean side bar. It is a resort that can give you a relaxing
moment, the rooms are fully furnished.
Pearl of the Pacific Boracay Suite rooms are located by the
beachfront or Boracay White Beach, while the deluxe rooms
are located behind the main hotel in an exotic garden or the
panoramic view hilltop rooms. Pearl of the Pacific Boracay
Island Hotel is the only Boracay Resort on the island to offer a
chapel for that special Boracay wedding. Pearl of the Pacific
Boracay Wedding Chapel is located about 15 minutes from this
beachfront Boracay Hotel. The Chapel is located in a lush tropical
forest on Boracay Island station 1.
