The 33rd edition of Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair (Spring) 2012 was held at India Exposition Mart Limited from 18th to 21st

February 2012. Dr. Rahul Khullar, Commerce Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India inaugurated the fair on 18th February 2012. Dignitaries present at the occasion include Smt. Kiran Dhingra, Secretary Textiles, Ministry of Textiles, Shri. S.S. Gupta, Development Commissioner for Handicrafts, Mr. Shaikh Humaid Al-Maani, H.E. Ambassador of Oman, Chairman, EPCH, members of the trade, Ministry Officials and delegation of foreign buyers, Foreign and Indian journalists.

As per reports received from the fair authority 2,300 leading

manufacturers and exporters from 28 states of India participated and displayed their products spread across 1,00,000 sq. mts area in 9 halls. Display was put up in 950 products lines, designs, styles, raw material base and concept.

Exhibitors displayed wide range of Houseware, Decorative, Gifts, Home Textiles, Furnishing, Floor Covering, Fashion Jewellery, Accessories, Bags, Christmas Decoration Candles, Incense Stick, Furniture & Home Accessories.

EPCH issued a press release during the 33rd edition, which stated that the current edition attracted 4,325 Buyers from U.S.A.,

U.K, Japan, Germany, France, Australia, Spain, Greece, Italy, Hong Kong, China, Turkey, Hungary, Oman, Bulgaria, Thailand, Singapore, Israel, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, Taiwan, U.A.E, South Africa, Latin American, CIS & other countries and business worth Rs.855 Crores was transacted during the event.

Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC) participated in IHGF under Marketing and Export Promotion Scheme of Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles with 13 member exporters in an area of 207 sq. mts including Council’s

promotional booth. EPCH allotted space to Council’s member exporters in Hall No.9

Society Ltd., Kullu During IHGF (Spring) 2011 nearly 139 business visitors

visited 9 member participants stalls. Spot orders to the tune of US$ 26,000/- and enquiries totalling US$ 3,96,000/- were generated during the fair.

As per feedback received from 13 member participants during IHGF IHGF (Spring) 2012, nearly 187 business visitors visited their stalls. Spot orders to the tune of Rs.27.00 lakhs were booked and enquiries totaling Rs.1.64 Crores were generated during the fair. HEPC participants received enquires for products such as Carpets, Bathmat, Rug, Floor Covering, Kitchen Linen, Cushions, Table Linen, Bed Spreads, Curtains, Bag, Scarves, Shawls & Stoles. Visitors from U.K, Italy, Germany, Canada, U.S.A., France, Thailand, Japan, U.A.E. & Switzerland and some of the leading buying agents visited their stands.

Among the overall participant delegation of 13 member exporters, ten members have expressed their satisfaction on the business generated during the fair and eleven members have expressed their interest to repeat participation in next edition of the fair through HEPC. Further, participant mobilization for IIHF, 2012 was also undertaken.

The next Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair (Autumn) will be held from 15-18th October 2012.
