Report
Gujarat Technological University has established Community Innovation & Co-Creation
Centre (CiC3) at GTU’s Ahmedabad Campus, ACPC Building, LDCE Campus, Ahmedabad to
promote innovation and to provide a facilityfor the students, where they can develop products and
test new ideas. C-i-C3 regularly organizes workshops and seminars to upgrade knowledge and build
advanced skills among the students of Engineering.
GTU organized two days’ Workshop on Humanoid - NAO Robotics workshop on 7th
Jan
2016 at B0 Conference Hall, Chandkheda Campus, GTU, Ahmedabad. Objective behind this is to
generate interest among the student community to understand the robotics.Robotics is an excellent
way to introduce the student to integrated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics). The programme was attended by more than 158 Students and 15 Facultiesfrom
Various 56Engineering Collages affiliated with GTU.
The workshop began with a welcome address and introduction of CiC3 to student by Prof. Raj
Hakani.

NAO is a 58-cm tall humanoid robot. It is small, cute and round. It moves, recognizes you,
hears you and even talks to you. Its unique speech library allows it to communicate in 19
different languages. With its dual CPUs, two cameras, four directional microphones, two
speakers, touch sensors, tactile sensor and sonar range finders, NAO can interpret the
surroundings and recalibrate its interactions, with its user friendly programmable open source
software. This also means that NAO can respond to touch, direction and even emotions,
giving you the full humanoid experience.
173 participants (158 Student and 15 Faculties) registered for the workshops and GTU invited all of
them. All participant guided in brief about Humanoid Robot.
Mr. Vijay Shah and Mr. M.F Afsal from Vishnu Engineering carried session on Humanoid - NAO
Robotics workshop. Workshop was divided in two session, first session was about theory of robotics
and humanoid NAO Robot while second session was about practical and demonstration.
Session - 1
In Session - 1, Mr. Vijay Shah gave introduction about Robotics , Humanoid - NAO Robot,

Feedback : -
Workshop was excellent and I have never seen this type of workshop till now. I really enjoyed. I
grasped so many things from it.
Soni Hirenkumar R., Faculty , ADIT, New V. V. Nagar
Extremely good contents in the workshop. The demonstration and the presentations by the Vishnu
Engineering team members were great. I definitely liked the robot and learnt many important
concepts for preparing one. I would love the GTU team and CIC3 team to pull together their
resources and provide more such workshops to students in the near future. It definitely motivates
students and helps them focus more in their studies by developing project themselves.
Ashutosh, Faculty , CHARUSAT
It was a very helpful workshop and a motivational too.
Patel Rahul, Faculty , Sankalchand Patel Collage of Engg
It was very helpful workshop and I got knowledge about humanoid NAO robot. I am very glad to get
the knowledge.
Dholakiya Mayankkumar, Student, Parul Institute of Technology
Really enjoyed the workshop because of necessary and required knowledge on robotics...
Shivamsingh, Student, MSCET
Humanoid nao workshop is really very interesting, we hope in GTU there will be an education course
in engineering for robotics. So we can do something for INDIA.
Sumit Chauhan, Student, GIT
It was interesting to see first ever humanoid robot live.
Patel Akash , Student , VICT
Amazing!!! I really thank to all the members who had arranged this workshop.

It was good learning experience and truly speaking, I had never seen robot like that in my life till
today.
Jaisheel Chhatrawala, Student, VGEC
From that workshop I go so much knowledge about robotics. I enjoyed the workshop.
Aakash Chandeshra, Student, Universal Collage of Engineering
This workshop is my best one so far. This workshop taught me so much,I learnt and understood the
basics of all the robotics. The workshop helped me to understand the programming and mechanism. I
thank to the team who held the workshop.
Vivek Joshi, Student, VVP Engineering Collage
Yes, the workshop was so enthusiastically handled by sir and he gave wonderful knowledge about
this humanoid robot called "NAO" and also told that the future is mostly dependant on robotics. So
the concept of this workshop is very useful for our future.
Vandit Gajjar, Student, LD Collage of Engineering
