2 Introduction Intertek Testing Services NA, Inc. (Intertek) has conducted testing for LaPolla Industries, Inc., on their FOAM-LOK™ FL2000 (Closed Cell) Spray Insulation covered with 2 layers of Type X gypsum board, to evaluate its fire resistance. Testing was conducted in accordance with the applicable requirements of, and following the standard methods of, ASTM E119−10b Standard Test Methods for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials, August 2010. This evaluation began on March 25, 2011 and was completed on March 31, 2011.

3 Test Samples 3.1. SAMPLE SELECTION Samples were submitted to Intertek directly from the client. Samples were not independently selected for testing. Samples were received at the Evaluation Center on Match 24, 2011. Samples of the test material were taken and set aside for future component verification. Samples included:

Isocyanate A (component), LPA-ISO, Drum #0242, Material # YWMDI DR551, Batch #ZA1501MP74

Foam-Lok™ Spray Foam Insulation FL2000 Resin B (component) Regular, Lot #T06811-B1

3.2. SAMPLE AND ASSEMBLY DESCRIPTION A 10’ x 10’, non-load-bearing wall was constructed of steel studs, gypsum board and spray insulation (see Appendix A). 1. Framing − 3-5/8”, 20 GA galvanized steel studs spaced 24” o.c., floated between 20 GA

galvanized steel track. 2. Interior and Exterior Cladding − Two layers of 4’ x 10’ x 5/8” USG SheetRock® Firecode Core

TYPE X™ gypsum board, installed with the long edge parallel to the studs; base layer installed using #6 x 1-1/4” self drilling screws spaced 8” o.c. around the perimeter and 12” o.c. in the field; face layer installed with butt joints staggered 24” from the base layer,, secured using #6 x 1-7/8” self drilling screws spaced 8” o.c. around the perimeter and 12” o.c. in the field; exposed seams and fasteners received a Level 2 Finish.

3. Insulation − FOAM-LOK™ FL2000 (Closed Cell) Spray Insulation (reported density nominal 2 - 2.3 pcf) filling the stud cavity; spray applied by representatives of LaPolla Industries, Inc., on March 25, 2011.

4 Testing and Evaluation Methods

4.1. INSTRUMENTATION The unexposed surface of the assembly was instrumented with a total of ten, 24 GA, Type K, fiberglass jacketed thermocouples: nine were evenly distributed across the unexposed surface; TC # 2 was located over a stud, TC #10 was located over a joint, over a stud (see Appendix A). The output of the thermocouples and the furnace probes were monitored by a 100-channel Yokogawa, Inc., Darwin Data Acquisition Unit. The computer was programmed to scan and save data every 30 seconds. Following the test, the files were imported into MS Excel for tabular and graphical display (presented in Appendix B).

4.2. TEST STANDARD Testing was conducted in accordance with the applicable requirements of, and following the standard methods of, ASTM E119−10b Standard Test Methods for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials, September 2010. The assembly was secured to the large scale vertical furnace and was tested to the standard time-temperature curve described in the E119 standard.

5 Testing and Evaluation Results 5.1. RESULTS AND OBSERVATIONS The test was initiated on Friday, March 25, 2011. The ambient temperature at the time of the test was 87°F and the relative humidity was 44%. Immediately following the fire test, the assembly was removed from the furnace, and the exposed surface was subjected to the impact, cooling and erosion effects of the standard hose stream test. The water stream was applied from a distance of 20 feet, at an angle of 90°, at a pressure of 30 psig in compliance with the standard. The test assembly withstood the effects of the fire resistance test without passage of flame, or gases hot enough to ignite cotton waste. Transmission of heat across the wall did not raise the average temperature on the unexposed surface more than 250°F above the average initial ambient temperature, or the temperature at any single thermocouple more than 325°F above the initial ambient temperature. A duplicate assembly was constructed to meet the requirements of the hose stream test. Assembly drawings, the test data and photographs documenting the test are located in the Appendices of this test report.

5.2. EXAMINATION OF RESULTS 5.2.1. Correction Factor for the Fire Endurance Test

In accordance with the E119 test standard, a calculation for any correction to the indicated fire resistance period was done. The correction factor was then mathematically added to the indicated fire resistance period, yielding the fire resistance period achieved by this specimen: Correction Factor for the Fire Endurance Test

5.2.2. Surface Deflection

The deflection of the unexposed surface was measured at 3 equidistant locations, 30”, 60”, and 90” from left to right, across the horizontal midline, during the span of the test. The amount of that deflection is presented in the table below.

Hose Stream Re-Test, Project G100269638SAT-005C The hose stream retest was conducted on March 31, 2011, on a wall constructed identically to the original wall. The hose stream retest requires a fire exposure of 1/2 the duration of the original wall, or 60 minutes, whichever is less. So, after 30 minutes of exposure, the wall assembly was removed from the furnace and the exposed surface was subjected to the impact, cooling and erosion effects of the standard hose stream test. The water stream was applied from a distance of 20 feet, at an angle of 90°, at a pressure of 30 psig for 1 minute, in compliance with the standard for a 1-hour fire test. The wall withstood the fire and hose stream tests without passage of flame, of gases hot enough to ignite cotton waste, or of the passage of water from the hose stream. No openings developed that permitted a projection of water from the stream beyond the unexposed surface during the time of the hose stream retest.

6 Conclusion Intertek Testing Services NA, Inc. (Intertek) has conducted testing for LaPolla Industries, Inc., on their FOAM-LOK™ FL2000 (Closed Cell) Spray Insulation covered with 2 layers of Type X gypsum board, to evaluate its fire resistance. Testing was conducted in accordance with the applicable requirements of, and following the standard methods of, ASTM E119−10b Standard Test Methods for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials, August 2010. This evaluation began on March 25, 2011 and was completed on March 31, 2011. Based on the results of this test, the non-load-bearing test assembly achieved a fire resistance rating of 63 minutes. The conclusions of this test report may not be used as part of the requirements for Intertek product certification, pending product verification.
