CULTURAL EVENTS ORGANISED BY THE INSTITUTION

The Cultural Committee emphatically believes that a student’s overall development involves

activities beyond the curriculum and therefore offers the students with a platform to exhibit their

talents through organizing and participating in various events. The committee offers professional

training and support to the students to nurture their individual creativity and provides various

opportunities for the students to enhance their skills and talents. The Committee is driven by its

prominent objective of rendering a talent, and skills while promoting avid growth in students.

The Cultural committee organized the following programs for the academic year 2018-19

Milange

2018

Milange, the Freshers fiesta was

organized by the committee to officially

welcome the first-year Engineering and

Management students to the MITE

family. The day witnessed an incredible

array of events organized by the

different forums of Euphoria

exclusively for the new entrants.

Milange was a cultural treat with music,

dance, fun games, the crowning of Mr.

& Ms. Fresher, followed by an evening

of grand celebration at the MITE

Greens and dinner.

Sentia-19

27th and 28th

March 2019

SENTIA has been a trademark fest of

MITE since the institute’s inception

which consists of a plethora of

competitions. Around 1500 students

from the state, from 42 different

colleges participated in 62 competitions

held during the two day mega event at

ten different venues and aim to grab

prize money worth Rs. Ten lakhs.

SENTIA is the fest that manages to

leave the audience spell bound and

creates bench mark every year.

Alumni day &

Annual day

2019

Alumni day & Annual day are

organized by the Cultural Committee

along with the state-level fest Sentia.

The two-day event was an excellent

celebration with Alumni performances,

inter-department variety programs,

music, dance, and professional DJ

playing live at MITE. The Annual day

is also an event to recognize and honor

the best performers in academics,

sports, and cultural events.

Veloma

(Farewell )

May 13th, 2019

The Cultural Committee organized

Veloma to celebrate the journey of the

final year students at MITE, wish them

the best for their future, and bid

farewell. Veloma witnesses great

performances from the Euphoria club,

fun games for the final year students.

With ‘A Prom Escape’ as the theme the

final year students were astoundingly

and smartly spruced up to the event. A

student from each branch talked about

their recollections and shared their input

and appreciation.

Ayudha Pooja

Ayudha Puja is the day we honor and

express gratitude for all the instruments

that add meaning to our life and is an

important part of the Navaratri festival.

MITE celebrated Ayudha Pooja

traditionally by offering a puja and

worshipping the instruments, books,

tools and vehicles.

Independence

day

Celebrations

15th August

2018

Independence day was conducted by

committee on 15.08.2018. Our Principal

Dr. G.L. Easwara Prasad hoisted the

National Flag. He addressed the

gathering about the supreme sacrifice

the freedom fighters did to give us this

Independence of life. Later Students

and faculty Visited Spoorthi Special

School, to spend a memorable time with

the special students of the school and

also donated food items to them.

Rajyotshava

1st November

2018

The committee hosts Rajyotsava, a day

to commemorate the art forms of

Karnataka like Dollu Kunitha,

yakshagana, honor the rich literature,

and reinstate the need for imbibing in

students the love for culture and

traditions.

Teachers Day

5th September

2018

The Committee organizes Teachers’ day to commemorate the birthday of

Dr. Radhakrishnan. Faculty and staff assemble at the main entrance and paid

tribute to the photograph of Dr. Radhakrishnan by offering flowers on that day.

The program was followed by celebration of the day.

Engineers Day

15.09.2018

Birthday of Sir M Visvesvaraya is being celebrated as Engineers’ day

throughout the Nation on 15th September every year. The committee organizes a

small formal program where in Faculty and students assemble at the foyer to

pay their respects to the great soul Sir M. Visvesvaraya . Principal Dr G L

Easwara Prasad addressed the gathering on the occasion and stressed the role

played by Sir Visvesvaraya in Nation building. He further explained about the

value system practiced by Sir Visvesvaraya which has to be emulated by all.

Republic Day

celebrations

26.01.2019

The republic day celebrations were

organized by the committee on

26.01.2020. The National flag was

hoisted by our Principal Dr. G.L.

Easwara Prasad at the Campus. He

spoke about the importance of Republic

day, and about the Constitution and the

Duties and responsibilities of each and

every citizen.

ANNUAL BUDGET AND EXPENDITURE:

The Budget allotted for cultural Activities for this academic year is Rs 80,00,000/-

The Expenditure towards training students through the club as well as organizing various

cultural events for the academic year is Rs.5611765.04/- .

1. Incridea

Incridea19 is the national level techno-cultural fest of NMAM institute of Technology, Nitte. It is a

celebration of all forms of technical and cultural talent amongst students from different parts of our

country. It was held on 13th to 16th February 2019. The fest consisted of 50 events. The students of

MITE participated in twelve events and won the Runners Up Trophy. Details are as follows

4. NITK MUN:

NITKMUN was organized by National Institute of Technology, Karnataka to serve as a platform for

the participating students to develop an interest in MUN (Model United Nations) conferences and to

hone their debating skills. It was organized on 11th and 12th October 2018. MUN provides students with

a forum to hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking,

writing, teamwork, and leadership abilities. The students of MITE have participated and triumphed in

6. FISHCO FESTIVAL 2018:

The Golden Jubliee Fishco Festival 2018 is the Inter-Collegiate Literary & Cultural competition

organized by College of Fisheries, Mangalore on 22nd to 24th October 2018. The fest provides an

impetus for the crystallization and exhibition of talents of the youth. Two students of MITE participated

TRAINING ACTIVITIES OF THE CULTURAL CLUB- EUPHORIA

The Cultural Club Euphoria strategically plans the activities for each forum to cater to

the needs of the young talents. Members of each forum of the club meet every Saturday to

train themselves.

Razzle- Dance Forum

The members are trained in Urban Hip-hop

and contemporary dance forms by

Choreographer Mr. Arpith Nair, Founder of

Red Hawks dance school, Karkala.

Chords- Music Forum

The Music forum-Chords trains students on

on musical instruments like guitar,

keyboard, and vocals .The forum also has

the college band which competes at inter-

collegiate events.

Design Forum

The members are exclusively trained in

designing software Photoshop. Sessions on

video making are also conducted. The

members of the forum design various

posters for events held at MITE.

Mask- Theatre Forum

A usual session involves mono act, group

activity, sessions on acting. The forum also

develops ideas, scripts for various

competitions. The forum also conducts

sessions on physical well being.
