Computer Society of India – TSEC presents RUBIX 2011 www.rubix2011.com RUBIX 2011 RUBIX is the annual national level tech-fest of the Computer Society of India student branch at Thadomal Shahani Engineering College (CSI-TSEC), Mumbai Chapter which was held on 16, 18 & 19 February 2011. RUBIX 2011 was a great platform provided by CSI-TSEC enabling students to compete as well as learn. The technical cum fun fest was a successful effort by CSI-TSEC to maintain a perfect balance between technology and creativity. The crux of RUBIX involved a collection of competitions, workshops and seminars. RUBIX 2011 was a massive success with a turnout from students over 25 colleges over Mumbai, from 15 states in India and also from countries like Russia, China, USA, Bangladesh and Belarus. The key highlights of RUBIX 2011 were: International Participation Codezilla, an Online Programming Competition was conducted as part of RUBIX 2011. The competition was conducted on CodeChef.com and saw participation from more than 250 students from 15 states all over India and also from countries like Russia, China, USA, Bangladesh and Belarus. The winner of the competition was Egor Kulikov from St. Petersburg, Russia and the runner-up was Ashwin Shetty from Karnataka. Inter-Committee Competition CSI-TSEC organised an Inter-Committee competition, Minute To Win It, for all the student committees in Thadomal Shahani Engineering College. The event saw attendance from the TSEC Students’ Council, the Management Society, IEEE, ISTE, IICHE, IETE, NSS and TSF. We got a great crowd response for the event and CSI-TSEC was successful in bringing the committees in TSEC closer to each other.

• Workshops and Seminars conducted by top professionals The workshops and seminars at RUBIX 2011 were conducted by top-professionals from the industry. We had a seminar on Ethical Hacking by Appin Technologies in association with the EC Council, seminar on .NET and Web 2.0 workshop by NIIT, Linux workshop by Jetking, workshops on Photoshop and Animation by Frameboxx and Rubik’s Cube workshop by Cubic High.

• Overwhelming student participation for competitions Besides Codezilla, students from over 25 colleges in Mumbai participated in competitions like Technical Paper Presentation, Robotics, Sold Out – A Football Auction Event, Web Maestro, Pixelled, LAN Gaming, Treasure Hunt, Free Style Football and more. Cash prizes and vouchers were given to the winners and runner-ups of all competitions.

• CSI-Mumbai Chapter present for RUBIX CSI-TSEC was honoured by the presence of Mr. Ravi Eppaturi, Vice Chairman of CSI-Mumbai Chapter and Mr. Rajiv Gerela, Immediate Past Chairman of CSI-Mumabi Chapter for RUBIX 2011. They were welcomed by our committee and were part of the Inauguration Ceremony where both of them shared their experiences and beliefs with students.

• Media Publicity CSI-TSEC and Thadomal Shahani Engineering College were publicized through various media at RUBIX 2011. We had articles published in Mid-Day and 2000 four-page supplements printed by Free Press Jounral. We had the RUBIX 2011 banner put up outside Bandra Station (W) via Bright Media Pvt Ltd. RUBIX 2011 was also publicized online on websites such as EducationTimes.com and KnowAFest.com

• High Praise for RUBIX 2011 Website CSI-TSEC was praised by students, judges, guests and sponsors for the RUBIX 2011 website, www.rubix2011.com. The website was made entirely by the CSI-TSEC Committee and involved languages like HTML, CSS-5, JavaScript, PHP and JQuery.
