REPORT/2014
A Summary Of VietPro Activities
ABOUT US Vietnamese Professionals in the UK (Vietpro) was founded in January 2010 with the mission to become the hub for professional networking, skill building and promoting the community of Vietnamese professionals, students and people with interest in Vietnam.
Our members include more than 600 professionals and 10 University Vietnamese Societies. Together with our partners such as SVUK we have close link to over 8,000 students in the UK. With an increasing number of talented Vietnamese who graduate from UK universities and subsequently work in various professions both in the UK and Vietnam, Vietpro is a growing, dynamic community that is diverse and ambitious.
Over five years of operation, VietPro has become a familiar name with the Vietnamese community in the UK. We are the first point of contact for many students seeking career advice and mentoring support. VietPro’s regular events have become trusted brands, attracting top businesses including Harvey Nash, Standard Chartered, McKinsey, HSBC, Vietnam Airlines and the like.
2014 has witnessed a steady growth in VietPro’s strength, and the committee is working hard to make sure that 2015 will be another successful year. Join us as a member and/or one of our partners!

Student Investment Challenge III Student Investment Challenge (SIC) is an
annual event organised by Vietpro and City
University to create a playground for
Vietnamese students all over UK to challenge
themselves with real-life investments and robust
financial case studies.
In 2014 SIC III attracted 59 teams from 35 different
universities for round 1, where performance was judged
on the team’s investment return in FTSE100 listed
stocks over 10 weeks, as well as the quality of their
trading report submitted at the end of the round. 5 best
teams were then selected to compete in the final round
in February 2014 which consisted of 2 rounds: Quick
Questions and Mini Case Study Debate to decide the
winner, covering a broad variety of current topics ranging
from Fed tapering in the US to Abenomics in Japan.
Each round was judged by VietPro members who are
professionals with a wealth of industry experience and
are well regarded within the community. The winner,
team DNST from LSC, UEA and Queen Mary University,
won the top prize of £1,500.

Career in Vietnam Conference
“Career in Vietnam” was the first career
conference organised by VietPro in
London, and also the very first conference
to focus on job opportunities in Vietnam in
the UK.
Rapid development of the Vietnamese
economy in the recent years has produced
a significant number of career
opportunities, therefore attracted
increasing interests from the candidates of
highest calibres within the Vietnamese
community in the UK.
The conference was sponsored by
Vietinbank, New World Fashion Group,
Harvey Nash, Standard Chartered,
Dragon Capital and endorsed by the
Vietnamese Embassy in the UK..
The Conference was an open panel

Prospect VI and Drop-In Session
Prospect VI London
Prospect VI continued the success of the
previous five Prospects and attracted great
attendance of more than 70 students. The
format was changed to interactive panel
discussion during which students pro-
actively asked questions about job
applications and internship in the UK. The
CV checking and networking session were
still ones of important parts of Prospect and
received great feedback from attendees.
Drop-In Session
VietsocBed actively reached out Vietpro
with the initiative of hosting Drop-In
Session. The session was a great sharing
platform between Vietpro and 30
Vietnamese students at Bedfordshire
University. The feedback was extremely
positive.
“The event gave me a clear direction and I
am aware of more career opportunities.
The CV checking was incredibly helpful”-
Tho Tran, President of VietsocBed

Baby Pro 2014 was the first year
VietPro organised an event
purely for children.
Organised on the
International Children’s day
in June, Baby Pro attracted
more than 50 babies and
over 30 families on a one-
day fun and action packed
event.
This event was very
successful and was a great
way for VietPro to work with
young Vietnamese families
in the UK, most of whom
have settled down after a
few years studying and
working in the UK. These
members are forming a
different and vital part of
VietPro, and we hope to
engage and interact with
them more and more in the
future.

Vietpro Crayon Run 2014 Vietpro is delighted to have
organised Crayon Run 2014, a
charity run that helped raising funds
for HIV positive children. Given this
was the first charity run event
organised by Vietpro, we were
incredibly pleased with the number
of runners and volunteers turned up
on the day. The run was a great
success and was extremely well
received by participants who
expressed great enthusiasm. We
also received much positive
feedback from the representatives of
the endorsed charities who attended
the event.
All profits gained from organising the
event were donated to various
projects at the “The Amazin Lethi
Foundation” and “The Children’s HIV
Association”, to ensure that children
with HIV can achieve their full
potential for cognitive, social, and
physical development.

Networking & Community Events
VietPro Annual Report 2014
Throughout the year, Vietpro organised
several networking events for our
members. These events foster our
professional network and help our
members to meet new people and get
to know each other better.
These events are usually organised
once every 2 months as events in their
own rights, along with all the other
events in our calendar.
Gala Dinner 2014 Vietpro launched the annual Gala Dinner in 2014. This is the biggest event in our social calendar to look back at the year and is a way for
Vietpro to thank our partners, sponsors, members who have been actively contributing to our success during the year.
The 2014 annual Gala Dinner was organised at the cozy Del’Aziz Restaurant near Bermondsey Square. More than 80 people turned up and
joined Vietpro for a night of endless games and fun. The night was a huge success with great feedbacks from people who attended.
