ECOCLUB Report 2018-19

1. Awareness and Cleanliness drive by SLC Eco club students in

college as well as in nearby areas of East Delhi

Cleanliness is both the abstract state of being clean and free from dirt, and the habit of achieving

and maintaining that state. SLC Eco-club volunteers took initiative to interact with college

students as well they visited the neighboring areas to sensitize people about the value of

cleanliness and the harmful consequences of keeping the surroundings dirty. They voiced their

concern and projected views through slogans and pamphlets. The awakening of the general

masses in this respect is a welcome sign & would make our world a heaven to live in.

6. Bird House

Nowadays, it has become difficult for birds to find food and shelter for their survival especially

in the urban areas, due to lack of nesting grounds and proper food. Eco club students took

another initiative towards helping birds to survive for that they took used products like plastic

bottles, waste wooden planks and newspapers to build bird shelters and bird feeders instead of

using market products. This step was taken to make understand the students how to use waste

products found in household and nearby work place into any worth product which is not only

useful for birds but also reduce the waste. These bird feeders and shelters were hung on trees,

inside college campus where there are a large number of trees and birds are not disturbed by

human activities. This initiative is not short lived and will be continued with new innovative

ideas.

8. Visit to Shanti van

Shanti Van is a sprawling city forest area near Rajghat and Dariya gunj in Delhi, India. It is

are employed by upper authorities but the role they are playing by serving this area with

dedication is something worth more than only employment, hey shared many things such as what

are the things which are harming the environment and how we can tackle these problems by not

even changing our lifestyles more. They familiarize us with each and every species they could on

our multiple visits and helped us in digging more into this world. They also told us about the

problems and situations currently the shanti van has been facing due to the imbalances in the

nature.

With this project they got the opportunity to dig more into this beautiful world which they were

unaware of and got the knowledge of flora and fauna, birds, small animals and many other

organisms which seems to have not been visible normally but are so much important for the

survival of mankind. They also get to know about the threats to these species and how they can

help them replenish by just a minimal cost of being a responsible person. They get the feeling

that how many things have been left unexplored in this world and the project has finally able to

take them to the point where one could wonder about this world and starts exploring it more and

more.
