The Structure of the IB Diploma Programme
IB Diploma = 3 subjects at HL and 3 subjects at SL + TOK + EE + CAS IB Courses = 6 subjects or less + CAS (a student can take one or more HL subjects if they wish)
IB Points
Each subject graded 1 to 7
7 = excellent and 1 = very poor
Extended essay graded A to E TOK graded A to E
TOK and the Extended Essay contribute to 3 extra points
Maximum total = 45 points
Points and the IB Diploma 45 points = full marks
40 points = access to the World’s top universities
36 points = Excellent universities and in-demand courses. Entry into HKU and HKUST
24 points = passing requirement for IB Diploma
34 points = 4 A grades at ‘A’ level (Five AP grades of 5)

Career Choices • Law – English Literature and History at HL • Engineering – Mathematics HL and Physics HL • Medicine – Science HL and Mathematics HL • Art – Visual Arts HL (full IB Diploma not always required) • Accountancy – Mathematics HL and Business HL/Economics HL Personal Ecology • Can I live with the decision I make? • Have I considered my strengths? • Is this want I really want to do?

9 October – options evening 10 October – option form live on Gateway • Interquest interviews and surveys • Subject information sessions in class • Personal consultations with staff member • Time to find out careers/university information • World of Work 22 November – Option form closes on Gateway
