Renaissance Art Assignment Choose three pieces of Renaissance art on which to focus and explain how each of these pieces is
representative of the Renaissance period. Between the three pieces you choose, be sure to find
examples of all five characteristics of Renaissance art that we have discussed. If you would like to add
others (accurately), more than five is ok. Your three pieces should represent the work of three different
artists.
DO NOT CHOOSE ONE OF THE PIECES we have already discussed in class.
Do not use your textbook; find another source.
Make sure your selections are from the Renaissance period (1350-1700) and that they are
European.
You may use books or the Internet. If you choose Internet sources, please go to museum sites. Some
good choices: http://www.louvre.fr/en http://www.uffizi.org/ http://www.wga.hu/index1.html http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/
http://www.nga.gov/content/ngaweb/Collection.html
On a separate piece of paper that you will turn in, for each piece of art, write down the source, the title of
the work, and the artist. Then, referring to your notes, explain in short paragraphs:
1. How is this piece typical or representative of Renaissance art? Be specific, using terms we have
discussed, about the characteristics of art from this period that are evident in your choice.
2. Why did you choose this piece. What did you particularly like about it?
.
If you find your pieces on the computer and can print a copy of them, please do so, to turn in with your
written work.
