Some institutions (like BCIT and KPU) fill programs based on a first-‐applied, first enrolled basis. KPU Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing – IMPORTANT: KPU has been undergoing some curriculum changes to its Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing programs, to include a common foundation year prior to Year 2 admission to the BSN/BPN programs. These curricular revisions are currently awaiting Ministry review and approval. Since the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is no longer a first-‐year entry program, Nursing applications WILL NOT open on November 1 when our Fall 2016 applications begin. They are not permitted to open applications for the new Health Foundations until the program has received Ministry approval. We will keep you informed once the Ministry has completed its review and KPU is able to open up applications for
Health Foundations. In the meantime, interested students should apply for their second choice program, and they can fill out a program change form once the Health Foundations program is open UBC – Major Entrance Scholarship -‐ application deadline (to be considered for a UBC MAJOR Entrance Scholarship) is DEC. 10th QUEST UNIVERSITY (Squamish, BC) Some Important Dates and Deadlines: QUEST is enrolling only 220 new students for Fall 2016; therefore, interested students should keep in mind the following deadlines: ·∙ The Early Action Deadline is December 1, 2015 – students who complete their free online application and submit their supporting documents by this date, will have an admission decision before January 1, 2016. After this date, we will review applications on a rolling basis starting January 15. ·∙ The Recommended Application Deadline is February 1, 2016 – we recommend students complete their Admissions application by February 1 due to the limited number of spots available for the Fall 2016 class. We will review applications after this date if space is available. The Scholarship Deadline is March 1, 2016 – a student’s Admissions application must be complete before applying for scholarships. If a student is applying for both scholarships and financial aid, these applications must be submitted at the same time. After March 1, students are only eligible to
apply for need-‐based financial aid. Students are reviewed only once for scholarship and/or financial aid. The majority of our students receive some form of scholarships or financial aid to offset the cost of tuition. ·∙ The Enrolment Confirmation Deadline is May 1, 2016. Students must confirm their enrolment by this date.

GAP YEAR: Historically, taking a year off between high school and post-‐secondary has been met with fear and resistance. What if I never want to go back to school? What if I forget what I learned in school? What if….?? The social, emotional and developmental growth that can occur by taking this time will often lead to a more fulfilled, productive and committed student or employee (Careering, Fall, 2015). MYGAPYEAR is a Canadian organization designed to support young adults in periods of transition. They recommend that the person taking a GAP year consider the following steps:
1. Set goals BEFORE your time off begins
2. Find someone to hold you accountable to your goals
3. Pick experiences that push you out of your comfort zone
4. Take time to reflect 5. Learn to articulate your growth
