SummaryRemote Openings is a platform that connects job applicants to employers in the growing remote/work-from-home space. Applicants can search through thousands of remote job openings, save their resume, and apply with 1-click. Employers can create detailed job posts and easily review applications. Plus, Remote Openings recently partnered with ZipRecruiter to add over 10,000 active remote jobs to the platform.

LocationRemote Openings is completely cloud-based and relocatable to virtually anywhere in the world.

OpportunityAccording to Keyword Planner, Google’s keyword research and data tool, there are over 1M searches per month related to remote and work-from-home jobs — and growing quickly.

Additionally, the recent coronavirus outbreak has caused many companies to transition partially or entirely to a remote workforce.

The rise of remote work presents an incredible opportunity to provide a platform that serves this niche exclusively — creating a better search experience for applicants and a more targeted audience for employers.

MonetizationRemote Openings is currently free applicants. So, you may be wondering — how do we make money? It turns out that there are many ways to monetize the platform:

(1) We recently signed a non-exclusive 50/50 revenue share agreement with ZipRecruiter on a cost-per-click (CPC) basis. This means that when an applicant visits Remote Openings and clicks on a job post, that click will send them to the same job post on ZipRecruiter’s website, and ZipRecruiter pays us for that click. However, the CPC varies widely by job type, employer, and other factors.

(2) Charging the employer. You can charge a fixed fee per job post, sell a subscription for unlimited posts, or some variation of this (i.e. tiered subscription with a variable number of job posts).

(3) Charging the applicant. You can sell an inexpensive subscription to applicants, allowing them to apply to for unlimited jobs. A “freemium” version of this could be to allow the applicant to apply X times for free, with an upgrade for more.

(4) Charging recruiters. Employers often hire recruiters to find them a candidate for an open position, and the recruiter usually earns a percentage of the candidate’s first year salary. With that said, recruiters are often willing to pay to get connected to applicants and/or employers, so charging recruiters could be very lucrative.

(P.S.) Remote Openings is currently launching a pay-to-post feature.

FeaturesPowerful SearchRemote Openings’ search algorithm indexes data from every job post, so applicants can search by job title, job category, job type, employer, and filter results by location, radius, job type, salary, and more.

Recommendation EngineWhen an applicant views a job post, Remote Openings automatically finds and recommends similar jobs to increase time-on-site and enhance the search experience.

1-Click ApplyApplicants can save their resume to their profile and apply to jobs with one click — no more lengthy forms and complexity every time a user wants to apply for a job.

FAQsWhy is the founder selling?Josh is a professional web designer and developer who loves the creative of building technology products (i.e. ideation, branding, programming, etc). Now that the product is up and running, he'd like to sell it to someone who can grow it into a thriving company.

How did you arrive at the valuation?Since Remote Openings is a recently launched startup with no revenue history, we had to rely on other metrics to determine the price — such as the value of fair compensation for the design and development of the application, the partnership and integration with ZipRecruiter, the domain name, and other digital assets.

How will the sale be conducted? The sale will be governed by a simple Purchase Agreement (available for your review). All of Remote Openings’ assets will be transferred to the new owner, including the entire code base, domain name, social media assets, graphics/images, and any other assets associated with Remote Openings. The purchase price is payable by wire transfer. All assets are already prepared to be transferred, without any interruption to the live site.

Is seller financing available?Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any form of financing or payment over time. We are expecting to meet a serious and financially capable buyer.

FAQsIs the founder willing to provide ongoing support?Josh will gladly assist with the transition process. However, if the new owner would like to retain Josh for technical support, building new features, or anything else beyond the transition, a retainer fee can be negotiated.

Do I need to be technical to run Remote Openings? No, the platform is live and running perfectly, so no further development is required. However, for a non-technical buyer, it’s recommended to have a technical contact on-call. There are many domestic and overseas developers that can help on an on-call, contract,or full-time basis.
