Using an online thesaurus or a ‘book version’ we would like you to find better words for these 5 boring words. 1) Good 2) Big 3) Nice 4) Small 5) Happy You can write these into your books/on a piece of paper. See how many different synonyms you can find for these words - remember to only use words that you can read/ have heard of before. Once you have found these, we would like you to use a thesaurus to improve your sentences from yesterday. Choose at least 1 word from each of your sentences you wrote yesterday and improve it using a synonym. E.g. Original sentence: Charlie is a thin, quiet boy who is very poor and he lives with his grandparents and parents. Charlie is a scrawny, quiet boy who is very impoverished and he lives with his grandparents and parents. Write out your new and improved sentences. Can you add more to it? LESSON  ENGLISH

SUCCESS CRITERIA   To understand the term ‘synonym’ To use a thesaurus to improve vocabulary

INSTRUCTIONS  We are investigating synonyms- this means words that mean the same thing E.g. said = whisper, shout, asked, cheered, announced. Using an online thesaurus or a ‘book version’ we would like you to find better words for these 5 boring words.

1) Good 2) Big 3) Nice 4) Small 5) Happy

You can write these into your books/on a piece of paper.

Maths - Mrs Flint’s Group

SUCCESS CRITERIA  I am confident with the Hegarty Maths website. I have watched and understood lesson 6. I have completed the lesson 6 quiz.

INSTRUCTIONS  ONLINE LEARNERS The group will meet to discuss the previous lesson and iron out any queries about the Hegarty Maths website.   As a group we will review fact families and associated number facts. Why and how do we apply them to division sentences?  Children will watch the Hegarty lesson 6 video.  Children will complete the lesson 6 quiz.  Children may complete the worksheets below if they have time left at the end of the quiz.  OFFLINE LEARNERS  Using your knowledge of ‘fact families’ complete the addition and subtraction worksheet to refresh yourself.  Thinking back to yesterday’s lesson, can you apply the number family facts to write out the associated number sentences?  If I have the numbers 2, 4 & 8 in my fact family, I could make 4 mathematical sentences. 2 multiplication and 2 division.  2 x 4 = 8   4 x 2 = 8 8 4 = 2÷  8 2 = 4÷   Now you try. Complete the multiplication and division worksheet.  You can use your multiplication square from yesterday to help you. Try it without first and see how you get on.
