Foreword

The Reminiscor Staff hopes to give you a yearbook full of happy memories.

V/e have sincerely tried to put together the many events that occurred this year. Lack of time

and finances curtailed many features which we would like to have expanded.

As our theme we have chosen Unity, the cryíng need in a world lacking peace

We have used the Encyclical on Christian Education of Youth by Pope Pius XI to tie together the

various sections of the book as teachers, students, and ai1 the organizations connecteC with the school

have only one and the same aim-that of the Christian Philosophy of Education, and are all in their

different fields working towards this end.

Co-Editors Diane Breyer and Beverly Stegge

"It is theref ore as irnþortant to ma\e no mista,ke in education, as it is to ma\e no rnista\e in the

þursuít of the last end, with which the whole wor\ of education is intimatell and necessarily connect'

ed,-there can be no ideally þerf ect education which is not Christían education."

Dedication

'We are very happy that the change in the name of the school does not change our patron, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to Whom this year as always we lovingly and gratefully dedicateReminiscor.

Because this is a year of momentuous happenings we remember with loving ap.preciation and justifiable pride: our beloved A.rchbishop Aloysius J. Muench now Apostolic dele'gate to Bonn, Germany; our revered Auxiliary, Most Rev. Leo Dworschak, who will celebratehis Silver Jubilee next June; and our two pioneer Sisters, who for many years taught at SHA,Mother M. Joseph and Sister M. Alphonsus, who celebrated theír Golden Jubilee some monthsago. W'e ask the Sacred Heart to bless them and all their works. Affectionate congratulationsand a hearty Ad Multos Annos to all.

Upon returning as sophomores, a feeling of security andan expression of dignity were prevalent among us. Here we are seniors! It seems only yeslerday when weentered the halls of o1d S. H. A. Pac Colliton was again elect-

Soon we shall graduate. Along with graduation will comemany a sad heart. Not sad because of graduation, but be'cause all the wonderful memories of S. H. A. and ShanleymusÈ be lefc behind.

Yes, now we musc go out into the world and cope withanything chat might prevail. But we of Shanley High Schoolfeel as well equipped as any graduate; for through S. H. A.and Shanley's portals, we have attained an education whichnot only insures our temporal welfare, but also our spíriÊual.

When we, the class of '52, cane through the doors o[Sacred Heart as green freshmen, little díd we know whal u,asln store for us.

Tbe officers chosen for that year were Bill Chisholm, pre.sident; Gene Jobnson, vice-president; and Mary Helen Peter-son, secretary, treasurer.

Several projects such as candy sales and pay assemblieshelped furnish us with class funds.

This year, tbe "dignified" juniors retained Betty Fortney

:Ls president. She was assisteC by Fern Cossette as vice'presi'dent; and Bill Chisholm as secretary'treasurer. A vocationpanel discussion and exhtbit of material on religious ordersof women was an interesting project this year.

We sold Christmas cards and sponsored pay assembliesalong wrth other projects to raise money for the annual juniorsenior prom, We also staged a three, act play, Tiger House, which was directed by Sister M. Thonas.

Proud to be tbe juniors of Shanley High, we are anxiouslyawaltlng our senror year.
